We’re looking forward to introducing you to Liza Gralnik . Check out our conversation below.
Liza, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People often think wedding florists just show up with pretty flowers — but it’s so much more than that. Floral design for weddings is a full creative and logistical production. We’re designing the visual atmosphere of one of the most important days in someone’s life. It takes months of planning, sourcing, sketching, and coordinating with multiple vendors. It’s not just about flowers — it’s about scale, mechanics, storytelling, and creating emotion through design.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Liza Gralnik, founder and lead designer at MintFloralStudio — a floral and event design company that focuses exclusively on weddings and one-of-a-kind celebrations. We don’t just create floral arrangements; we design entire atmospheres. From large-scale floral installations to tablescapes, candles, and custom decor, we bring our couples’ vision to life with elegance, emotion, and intention.
What sets us apart is our design-driven, story-first approach. Every event we create is tailored, cohesive, and built to leave a lasting impression. We’re currently expanding to other states and actively working on training all of our offices in modern floral techniques, event design technologies, and elevated styling — ensuring that every wedding, no matter the location, reflects our signature artistry and high standards.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Lack of communication is what breaks connection faster than anything. When people stop listening — really listening — assumptions take over, and that’s where trust begins to erode. In both relationships and business, what restores bonds is the willingness to pause, ask questions, and truly hear what the other person is trying to say.
In my company, the first tool we use is simple but powerful: we ask questions. We don’t guess what’s in our clients’ minds — we find out. That’s how trust is built. Whether we’re designing a wedding or navigating a team project, everything starts with clear, compassionate communication. When people feel heard, understood, and supported, the connection becomes stronger than ever.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Trust your voice, even when it’s quiet. What feels uncertain now is shaping the strength and creativity you’ll rely on later. Keep showing up with heart — it’s more than enough.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies is that floral design is just about beauty — that it’s light, creative, and effortless. In reality, this industry runs on logistics, pressure, and physical work. Behind every “effortless” arrangement is a team lifting, climbing, sweating, and troubleshooting under tight timelines.
Another lie is that you need to follow trends to be successful. The truth is, the most memorable weddings come from authenticity — not Pinterest. Real connection, intentional design, and deep listening to the client’s vision will always outlast any trend.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand that true success in this industry isn’t just about beautiful results — it’s about creating a process that feels just as beautiful for everyone involved.
My mission is twofold: to deeply satisfy the client by truly understanding and translating their vision, and to build an inspiring environment where designers and florists feel supported, valued, and free to create. When both sides — the client and the creative team — feel seen and respected, the end result isn’t just stunning, it’s meaningful.
