We recently had the chance to connect with Karen Mehanna and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Karen , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My grandkids every time . Seeing them blossom and grow is a joy beyond any written words. My kids the adults they have become. And my precious hubby, thanking God everyday.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Karen Mehanna—the heart behind Grace and Lace.
A mother. A storyteller. A cultural bridge.
A woman who believes that beauty is only complete when it holds meaning.
This work began long before the business.
It began at tables full of laughter, at weddings steeped in tradition, in the sacred chaos of family.
It began with a deep belief:
That joy is holy.
That aesthetics should serve connection—not steal the spotlight.
And that the most unforgettable experiences come from the soul, not Pinterest boards.
I pour my whole heart into every event I touch—because I don’t just want to make things look beautiful.
I want them to feel like home.
Whether it’s a wedding, a dinner, or a cultural gathering—my role is to help you bring your vision to life in a way that feels rooted, radiant, and deeply you.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
At the heart of every meaningful bond — whether between friends, family, partners, or even clients — lives one fragile, beautiful thing: trust. When trust is broken, it quietly unravels everything else… communication feels guarded, intentions feel questioned, and even love can feel uncertain. But when trust is honored, protected, and gently restored, something even deeper is created — a sense of safety. In my world of Grace & Lace, where dreams, emotions, and once-in-a-lifetime moments are placed in my hands, trust is the true foundation of every relationship. It’s what allows hearts to open, visions to come to life, and people to feel seen, valued, and cared for — not just beautifully styled, but genuinely understood
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that has held me back has never been about failure — it has always been about loss. Losing my brother planted a quiet helplessness deep in my heart, a reminder that some things are beyond our control. Leaving my beloved Lebanon, then starting over again and again between two worlds, meant losing friends, familiarity, and pieces of myself each time I had to rebuild. Even now, the thought of losing connection with my children is what truly terrifies me. And yet, through every season of loss, I have learned to create — to build beauty, love, and meaning wherever I am planted. Grace & Lace was born from that journey: a way to hold on to what matters, to weave connection into every moment, and to turn fragile stories into something lasting and beautiful.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The version of me you see in the world is the real me — always has been, always will be. I don’t know how to pretend or perform; if something isn’t true, it would show in my eyes and in my spirit, just as my cousin used to say. I would rather step away quietly than stay and speak anything that isn’t honest. I taught my children that I can understand mistakes, fear, and even heartbreak — but never lies. So when you meet me, what you see is what you get: a heart that leads with sincerity, a soul that values truth, and a way of being that believes real beauty comes from being genuine, not perfect.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When my story is told someday, I hope it is one of deep love and open hands. I hope they say I loved fully, even when it was hard, and gave everything I could without keeping score. That I created not just beautiful spaces, but meaningful moments — memories that lingered long after the flowers were gone and the candles burned low. More than anything, I hope they remember that I made people feel seen, cherished, and held in the warmth of something genuine… because that is the truest legacy any heart can leave behind
