We recently had the chance to connect with Candi The Violinist and have shared our conversation below.
Candi , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I feel like imposter syndrome is a big one! We can be our own worst critics at times and there’s something especially vulnerable about sharing your art form where it’s also your main source of income and balancing all of that.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My branding is a playoff on my real name, which is Candice, but I’m affectionately known as Candi The Violinist. My whole slogan is, what’s your flavor?! Attributed to the fact that I can play across all genres of music. I would like to be known as a reputable, live musician for high-end luxury events, when you are looking for an extra wow factor! I hope to provide representation as a black female Violinist making me quite the anomaly.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God above! But because I follow God is the reason why I have been able to grow and see myself the way he sees me which is perfectly imperfect, and I do believe my ability to play the violin is a gift from God.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That even at your lowest, as long as you keep pushing forward, the only direction to go is up.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely not! Not to say that I show someone who isn’t real however, my public personality can be bubbly, charismatic, and inviting however when I return to my private spaces, I’m usually alone and keep a very small circle. I guess I would describe myself as a classic introvert extrovert.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
To be able to have my passion be my work is one of the greatest blessings! There’s absolutely no pain points I face when having to show up to work because I’m doing what I love! Even with all of the uncertainty, I face at times, my faith in what I’m building is so much greater than any thing else!
