We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amanda Cureton . Check out our conversation below.
Amanda, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I am most proud of is the inner foundation I have built over time. I have become someone who trusts her instincts, meets challenges with resilience , and stays deeply connected to who she is. None of that happened overnight, and it certainly did not come easily. It came from years of choosing to slow down, pay attention to my patterns, and do the uncomfortable personal work that most people avoid. It came from learning how to sit with myself, how to make decisions without second guessing, and how to keep showing up even when life felt heavy. My growth has shaped everything about the way I move through my life and my business, and the strength I have built within myself is the achievement I value most.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amanda, photographer, visual storyteller, and the creative behind Creative Thinking 4U Photography. Photography has been a thread throughout my entire life, but the past decade has shaped my craft into something deeper: a commitment to helping brands communicate who they are through meaningful, elevated visuals.
I’m drawn to the energy of hospitality, the character of thoughtfully designed spaces, and the artistry behind products that bring people together. My work captures the details, textures, and moments that define your brand’s experience.
I don’t simply show up to take photos. I partner with my clients to understand their story, their standards, and their long-term vision.
As my business grows, I’m working on building deeper collaborations with brands that align with my style and standards. My goal is to create visuals that not only look beautiful but truly move the needle for the people I work with. That long-term impact is what keeps me passionate about what I do.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has shaped me the most is the one I’ve built with myself. Over the years I’ve gained clarity about what matters to me, how I work best, and how to trust my instincts. That inner work has influenced not only who I am but also how I show up in the work I do and the way I connect with the people I collaborate with. It has shaped the way I see myself by giving me a clear understanding of my strengths and the direction I want to grow in.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how important it is to grow through the moments I would have rather avoided. It made me more aware of who I am and how I move through the world. Those difficult moments forced me to pay attention to myself, to understand what I needed, and to be honest about the patterns that were no longer supporting the person I wanted to become. They strengthened my ability to make grounded decisions, to set boundaries, and to stay steady even when life felt unpredictable.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the industry is that constant grinding is the only way to succeed. I see a lot of entrepreneurs working nonstop and convincing themselves that staying busy means they’re making progress, when in reality they’re often stuck in the same cycle without ever stepping back to understand what actually needs to change. I only recognize this because I’ve been there myself and had to learn how important it is to take an honest look at what isn’t working. Real growth comes from clarity and from being willing to invest in yourself, especially in moments of uncertainty. It takes intention to pause, get the right support, and move forward in a healthier and more sustainable way. That mindset is what creates longevity, not burnout.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
One thing I understand deeply is how much clarity you gain when you finally slow down. In business and in life, it’s easy to keep moving simply because momentum feels safer than stillness. I learned how quickly your priorities can blur when you never stop long enough to reassess them. But when you pause long enough to really sit with where you are, things shift. Your decisions become more intentional. You start to recognize what supports you, what weighs on you, and what direction actually feels aligned. It isn’t always comfortable to slow down, but it’s in those quiet moments that clarity becomes impossible to ignore.
