Meet Stephanie Stevens of Stephanie Dawson Enterprises

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Stevens.

Hi Stephanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born at a very early age, lol!  A native of London, England I lived and served the Metropolitan area of the city until taking a leap of faith and settling in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.  Life in the UK had its fair share of trials and triumphs but is still full of great and fun memories for me.

School days were the best days even though times were difficult for us physically and financially.  Racial prejudice was at its height and I was often subject to bullying and/or name calling and sometimes physical harm.  That seemed to fade into insignificance compared to the physical harm in my own home.  My father was abusive towards us and I can recall many fearful and hurting moments.  Little did I know, at the time, that the experience would help me later on in life.

They say most women marry an image of their earthly father and I was to be no exception!  I rushed into two marriages that ended primarily due to physical abuse – again the experiences were setting me up for future endeavors.

During my service in the Metropolitan Police Force I was posted, as a detective, to the Domestic Violence Unit (among many other duties) and was able to relate to and empathize with those I helped.

Music has always been a huge part of my life and I cannot remember a time I have not been involved in singing and/or musical activities.  My passion has led me to pioneer A Moment With The Classics which was started as a result of my son, James A Williams.  James was diagnosed with autism at the age of three and I was told he would not be able to do so many things.  Time, effort and tenacity proved that to be so wrong!  In one particular year he graduated mainstream high school (with a standard diploma); passed his driving test and gained employment, both in Corporate America and independently performing music at various events.

James developed a special talent and fell in love with classical music and at the age of 13, he taught himself the classical pieces he now plays, by ear, having had no formal training or ability to read sheet music. His music has given us the ability to reach out to the local community and also to assist in fund raising events for non profit organizations.  James really enjoys playing classical pieces because it touches other people’s lives and allows him to give back to the community.

A Moment With The Classics has allowed my personal experience with Domestic Violence and my love for music to collaborate with many charities and raise much needed funds, as well as awareness, to the plight of those currently suffering at the hands of abusive people in addition to those charities that provide other valuable services.

My faith in God led me to my current husband who is a gentleman and my “knight in shining armor”.  He was truly worth waiting for.  Together we spearhead Stephanie Dawson Enterprises LLC which incorporates A Moment With The Classics; A440 Audio (Sound enhancement); Steph’s Place In Florida (rental); The Write Way (writing) and a LegalShield business (Legal advice and Identity Theft protection).

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My previous husband was a controlling narcissist; abusive physically, mentally, financially and spiritually. He left the relationship three times and stole my life savings which caused me to have to start over again after all the hard work put into building a future for my son and myself. However, by God’s grace, start over we did and have been truly blessed in all areas of our lives.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Likes – Coffee and Cake Dislikes – Rudeness!
