Meet Nicole Soto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Soto.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2018 I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks later I found out I had breast cancer (her two positive). Went through a left breast mastectomy (where the tumor was) had 16 lymph nodes removed in my second trimester and did chemo the whole pregnancy was induced in September 2018 at 35 weeks to finish the stronger chemo (herceptin and perjeta). In Dec 2018 I had my right breast mastectomy. In July 2020 I just started making shirts and other personalized items for people and named it after my daughter who survived in my stomach while I went through cancer. Skyla Kaylani, this came the name (S Kaylani Kreations). My goal is to one day be able to contribute every month a special gift basket with essentials for a pregnant woman suffering with cancer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not so much of a smooth road I am a mother of five so juggling taking care of them, myself, and a household, and working is very challenging.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Right now, I work from home as a medical service coordinator for veterans’ benefits. I’m very proud of my heart because I listen to their stories I put myself in their shoes and understand their pain. What sets me apart from others is being a survivor who never gave up on anything and always having a positive outlook on life and appreciating it.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
I believe taking risks is how you know if you’re able to accomplish what you dream or imagine. If you never take a risk, you never know how much you can accomplish and help others as well.
