Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcela Romero.
Hi Marcela, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started @LoveSWFL during the beginning of the pandemic because I wanted to help businesses that were having to close down. I was giving out food to families that had lost their jobs and I kept hearing from local business owners that they were having to close their business or lay off people because they couldn’t stay afloat. Not many people were eating out because of the pandemic. I decided then to put my skills to good use and started my Instagram account focused on letting the community know what businesses remained opened, their story, and how to order or support them.
After everything re-opened, I kept working with businesses in the area and helping them reach the community in general. Through all this adventure I met amazing people and decided I wanted to keep growing my Instagram and the amazing community I had built with people that cared about culture, food, entrepreneurship, and community. Now I work with big and small brands to promote local living, tourism, and Florida love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not. Entrepreneurship always has its ups and downs. I started getting panic attacks while I was growing my business, and that made it really hard to keep going out in the community and being the face of my business. At the same time, though, this is what saved me from my panic attacks, because it made me go out and keep going, it gave me hope.
Finding capital to fund content creation can also be extremely hard at first, so I saw myself working longer hours than usual in order to make ends meet. But it all has been worth it. It definitely has been a learning curve that I wouldn’t change for anything.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do content creation. I take simple items and make them drool-worthy. I specialize on creating food and drink content but work with many other businesses. I am known for playing with my food and always having the best food recommendations.
I am really proud of the tight community that I’ve built, my followers and I have a special connection and I consider them as friends. Them and I feel less alone because of this community.
What sets me apart from others is who I am as a person. There is only one crazy, life-loving, passionate Marcela, and my love for helping others show in my work.
What does success mean to you?
If I can make someone’s experience in this world even a little bit better, that is being successful to me.
