Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
In 2002 I started as a receptionist at my first Title Company. What can I say….? I immediately fell in love with Title Insurance. … NOT……Who does that?!? Lol. It wasn’t the insurance that I fell in love with as much as being able to be a part of the BIGGEST transaction people make in their lifetime. Being at the closing table, watching all their emotions of excitement and the tears of joy that come to their eyes when you hand them keys to their NEW home. Knowing they are going to make so many memories in those homes and getting to be a part of the first memory very quickly became an addiction. Over the years I have had the privilege of working for some of the largest Title Companies in the Nation. I personally wanted to learn every aspect of the job from Date Entry to issuing the final policies. Fast forward to 2015 when my life was turned upside down. I started JDT Servicing in August of 2015. At the time I was battling my own demons when I had decided to quit drinking…. As I have stated before, this job is High Emotions but with that comes HIGH Stress. Before I started JDT, I, like so many others, fell into a dark hole of drinking to cope with my stress levels. In September of 2015, I decided to get sober and put down the drink. It was during this time that I decided to pour my heart and soul and any cravings I had of having a drink into my business. I started out small processing for local Title Companies at a capacity to just keep me busy with 40 hours a week. It was shortly thereafter I realized that I was getting calls from People in the Industry who needed help with Processing and Closing and my phone was constantly ringing with new prospects. I had no idea where these people were even getting my number until I started to question when they called and realized our National Underwriters were giving out my name and number to help their companies. I saw a HUGE NEED for remote Processors and Closers. Most people don’t even know this job exists. No one graduates HS and decides they want to get into the Title Business. There are no schools promoting our career of choice, so we are literally watching our industry struggling, in desperate need to find qualified people. As part of the Home Buying process, most people know you can buy a home without a realtor, you can buy a home without a lender, but you CANNOT buy a home with a Title Company. Title Agencies are here to stay and are not going anywhere. All the people I was in the industry with in 2002 are starting to retire and there are no people to replace them. I decided to grow a team. I wanted to be very careful to select the right people who could handle the pressure of our field but who also had the delicacy to make people feel at ease through the buying and selling process. By our 3rd year, I recruited my Husband Chuck Wilhelm to leave his job in Mortgage Financing to assist me in growing this business. He is my ROCK. He is so amazing at what he does and has more knowledge than most in this Industry. He is so talented and has such a natural talent for Underwriting Guidelines, he is my better half and truly is what our business needed to grow to the next step. We continued to grow hiring some of the best in the business, all while hiring people with NO EXPERIENCE but with the passion to learn and have a natural hunger that I have had from my early days in Title. This business would NOT be what it is today without our team. My favorite quote that has inspired me is “Never start a business to ‘make money’. Start a business to make a Difference.” …. I truly feel we are making a difference. We currently work for MANY title companies throughout the state of Florida and have recently branched out Nationwide and are working with Title Companies in Michigan… but this is only the beginning. People often ask me, “What does JDT Servicing stand for?” The name of our business represents the most important people in our lives, our children. We want to inspire them to make a difference in whatever they choose to do, as we do here at JDT! Today we have been in business for 6 years and I could not be prouder of what we have built. I love our team. I love our Clients and I love what we do. Today I also celebrate 6 years of sobriety. This dream, this job, this career played a huge role in my Sobriety. To say it saved me is an understatement. It brought me back to life and for that, I am forever grateful…
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. During Covid, it was hard to find good employees that wanted to work. We had a to find a way to Motivate people by showing them you could make a decent income in our industry. It’s not easy that’s for sure. Title Companies in the Industry do so much of the work but are paid the least in every transaction. We had to build a business model that made it worth it for everyone.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Spending my summers with my grandmother working in her Dry Cleaners. I LOVED the credit card machine. I loved feeling so grown up having a job. My grandmother was my biggest role model. She inspired me in so many ways.
