Hidden Gems: Meet Kimberly Blackmon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Blackmon.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Privileged Faces, now Glowmour Beauty, started when I was selling cosmetics for a direct sales company in 2014. While dealing with adult acne, I sought solace in the cosmetics I was selling & learned how to apply them to myself and others boom. My mobile makes up artistry was born. While attending the University of Tampa & completing their Entrepreneurship degree plan, I created a machine to wash & dry makeup brushes called Brush-EZ. I was introduced to Danny Mastronardo from Nardo’s Naturals to develop the cleaning solution through their CREATE competition. I then had this great idea to attend aesthetics school to learn more about the skin. After graduating and not snagging a job right away, the school paid the bills since I am an Air Force Veteran. Upon completing the facial specialist program, my skin transformed, and I fell in love with me again. Seeing my transformation made me want to help others achieve the same thing. Brush-EZ was shelved & Privileged Faces Skincare was born in 2016.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Having my own business has had its challenges, from building clientele to moving locations and with a month’s notice. Eight months after I started doing skincare, I secured a full-time job in the Human Resources field. Working both jobs was challenging while building and growing. Working seven days a week every week eventually paid off. Another big challenge was finding and furnishing my own space after the studio I worked out of decided to close. I was able to crowdfund a no-interest loan with Kiva to purchase everything I needed. I also found a great space that supports me & has allowed my business to grow. The biggest hurdle has been COVID. Closing for six weeks was not in the cards for 2020. My entrepreneurship classes prepared me to pivot with my business, take my sales online & catapulted my skincare line. All in all, everything I have been through prepared me for where I am now, a full-time entrepreneur.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Privileged Faces Skincare, now Glowmour Beauty specializes in corrective skin care; we treat hyperpigmentation, acne, & wrinkles. We also offer waxing, lashes, massage, & v-steam services. We have transitioned to Glowmour Beauty effective 1 Jan 2021 to reflect all of our services. Also coming in 2021 will be laser hair removal & fillers. We find that many of our clients come to us because we look like them, but I pride myself on being able to treat whatever walks through the door. We are known for our results! Our most booked services are our Dermaglow facial & Yoni Healing Treatment (our version of the Vajacial). We recently expanded our hours and now have appointments available seven days a week. I am most proud of the team of Skin-Fessionals that I’ve been able to put together. They each take great pride in what they do and love their specialties. They bought into the Privileged Faces brand and represented it well.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
With Privileged Faces, we want our clients to get the experience they see in our marketing.
