Hidden Gems: Meet Angelika Huber of Delorian Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelika Huber.

Angelika Huber

Hi Angelika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey began in 2011 when I started studying to become a fashion designer. I’ve always had a passion for fashion and that’s why I studied fashion design and later even graphic design in Germany. As a fashion lover, I find inspiration in all forms of design and art.

From clothing to home decor, I appreciate the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into creating beautiful things. It’s always been my dream and that’s why I have a motto: Dream big, do bigger.

In 2021, I fulfilled my dream started my own embroidery business, and moved to Florida. I am passionate about creating unique and personalized designs that reflect the style and personality of my customers. As the owner, I take pride in providing high-quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it would probably be too nice if everything had gone smoothly. But that’s life and you grow from all difficulties. The biggest challenge was probably our move from Germany to a completely foreign country and starting a business because apart from the four of us – my husband, our two small children, and me – we don’t have anyone here. Since we do everything related to our business ourselves, it costs us a lot of time and challenge.

But day after day we notice how we are growing beyond ourselves and getting closer and closer to our goal. And it’s just so nice to finally see success. You also have to say that it is not easy to build an online shop from scratch and win the trust of customers.

It costs me an incredible amount of effort and work. Lots of sleepless nights and research about what could be done better. But as soon as you see even small successes, you know what you are doing and what you are fighting for. In this way, we are also a role model for our children and show them that it is worth fighting for your dreams and not giving up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is called Delorian Design – which is our creation from the first names of our children Delia and Dorian. At Delorian Design, we take pride in transforming ordinary apparel into extraordinary pieces of art. What sets us apart is our commitment to quality but also the fact that I am a trained fashion designer with many years of experience. Plus we only use commercial embroidery machines, ensuring that each stitch is a testament to our dedication to excellence.

Our specialties are unique designs, personalized apparel – to make your clothes as unique as you are, and commercial-grade quality – we use the best machines to make sure everything looks great and lasts a long time. It’s like having super strong clothes that also look awesome. And we offer bulk services, which means if you need lots of clothes for a team or business, we can do that too! Since I love creativity and am also very passionate about makeup, I try to incorporate this into my business as well. That’s why I sometimes put makeup on to match an embroidered hoodie and let my creativity run wild.

You can find the videos on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where I try to take people behind the scenes of our business. Overall, our brand is all about being creative, making things with care, and letting you show off your style. I just love seeing people happy with what we make. Every stitch on our clothes is like a little piece of art.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We took a lot of risks for our business. Because we have left our old life behind us completely to build a new life with our own business. It would be a lie if I said it was easy. But without these risks, we wouldn’t be here trying to build our dream life.

Because from my own experience, I can say that you can only be successful if you leave your comfort zone and take risks. I see myself as a risk-taker because before I applied to fashion design college, all I heard was that it was a dubious profession and that I should rather learn something conventional that would give me more security.

But I’m glad that I was brave enough back then and decided to make my dream come true.
