Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Randell.
Hi Kimberly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My passion for Interior Design was evident from a young age. I was inspired by and attribute my innate love for design to my dad. Growing up, he was an architect in NYC, and I would pore over the pages of his Architectural Digest. I would sift through the magazines and tear out pictures of the spaces that inspired me. Without realizing it, I was creating vision boards and developing my passion.
I attended The Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in interior design. I started my career as an intern, went on to become a junior designer, and eventually became the Manager of Visual Design for a high-end fabric and furnishings company. I continued working in design but shifted my focus to my family and raising my children (now 5 & 7) for a few years, during which time my family moved from Queens, NY to Wesley Chapel.
After settling into life in Florida and seeing the rapid growth happening in Wesley Chapel, I realized there was a need for a local designer. I knew I could provide my neighbors with invaluable design help, and so I decided to take the leap and launch Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors LLC in 2019. Starting a design company was a dream come true for me, and Tampa gave me the opportunity to pursue it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a solo business from scratch has had its share of struggles along the way. Currently, I would say the biggest one is juggling mom life and the business. As a mom of 2 young kids, I often find myself working evenings and weekends. It’s a short-term sacrifice that’ll allow me to reach my long-term goal of having a flourishing Design business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors, LLC is a full-service Interior Design firm, but I also offers services for the budget-friendly clients. Each project requires a slightly different design process that is based on the project needs. Regardless of the size of the project, my job as the designer is to ensure the design is executed with the highest standard and with a close attention to detail. My trained background in Design, along with my years of experience allow me to provide my clients with indispensable knowledge on all aspects of design while simultaneously creating a beautiful space.
The signature style at Kimberly Elizabeth Interiors is “Timeless Modern.” Timeless Modern refers not only to my style but also my approach to designing. My principles are strongly rooted in the contrast between timeless elements and modern implementation. And while I may have my signature style, I focus most on what is right for the space. I want the spaces I design to evoke feelings of comfort and sophistication, two elements you may not often group together. The space must be livable and inviting while also exuding a designer’s touch. With each design, I focus on accentuating the client’s individual style and translating that into a classic design that can last for many years.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I frequently reminisce about how art has always been a part of me, long before I could understand the depth of where it would take me. My first core memory of this was winning a coloring book contest in the 2nd grade. For all the years that followed, art would be a constant. Whether it was taking extracurricular Art classes at The Pratt Institute or joining an oil painting class at my local community park. It was this devotion that led me to find my passion for Interior Design.
