Daily Inspiration: Meet Miranda Richey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Richey.

Hi Miranda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I have always had a heart for the arts and creating. I would paint, do a bunch of DIY crafts, and work with anything I could pretty much put my hands on. A turn happened when my photographic journey began on a tour of Europe when my dad placed a camera in my hands and I haven’t quite let go. I wondered how I could combine photography and crafting. After developing my skill, graduating college, and traveling, I put them together in my artistic space that I called Adnarim93 Creative, “Adnarim” simply being my name backward, “93” for my birth year, and creative because the magic begins with creating. My work brings me so much joy and I simply wanted to share that joy with others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a creative entrepreneur has been a path with interesting turns and scenes. Collectively, I have been photographing and designing for about a decade. During that time, I would sometimes get disheartened when things didn’t run smoothly if I couldn’t pick up a new technical skill as quickly as I would like, if a set fell apart, or if a vision wasn’t quite accomplished. There was a time when I was traveling in China, the temperature where I was shooting dipped so much, the camera just stopped working and that sent me into panic, but I received local help. Just like with any art form though, the hardest challenge is getting what you see in your mind into the physical work in front of you. However, challenges are always growth opportunities and I’m thankful for my family and mentors that help me grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer and creative designer. In this way, I share my joy of creating and inspire others to not only see the beauty around them but in themselves.

There is an interesting balance between photography and design. In the photography area, I specialize in portrait photography in the styles of black and white, fine art, boudoir, and contemporary. On the opposite end, I also capture wildlife. I love both because of the unique expressions found in portraits and wildlife photography. Some of my final images for personal photo projects are curated into wall art with fine art canvases. Many of the people I work with are drawn to my unique perspective or “eye” in the manner in which I shoot. Photography, at times, can be especially intimate and vulnerable, so clients also enjoy my calm and ease on set.

In the creative design area, I pursue various creative projects including but not limited to web design, interior decorating, graphic design, and handwritten and minimalist logos. As a project management professional, I focus on project planning, scheduling, and execution when it comes to creative projects. I am a highly detailed and visual person, so with each creative project, I establish an organized process to keep me on target for a desired vision.

I am particularly proud of my image awards from the Portrait Masters Awards and Accreditation, my travel photography series from Zhangjiajie, China, and photo highlights with Tampa Zoo at Lowry Park. These encourage me to keep looking at new ways to refine and expand my work.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that it’s okay to not be okay. It’s okay for things to not be perfect. It’s okay if there’s a bad day. This does not mean that the next day won’t be good, that the problem can’t be fixed, or an image can’t be recaptured. Learning that it’s okay to not be okay takes the limitations off creating. It’s more important to stay committed and disciplined.
