Daily Inspiration: Meet Justine Foster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justine Foster.

Hi Justine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It was all a dream! Would you believe me if I told you that I simply turned a dream that I had on a regular Thursday night into a Florida reality in less than one year. Well, this is exactly where my story began. Back in 2018, I was living Ypsilanti Michigan sitting on the couch, exhausted after a long day of working my 9 to 5 corporate job. Then I looked over at my husband, Sean, and said, “Let’s move and start our own entertainment business. You can DJ, I’ll serve as the bartender, and we’ll get a photo booth to go do events and make it easy for people to enjoy their own custom party experience”. After a second of surprise and ponder, the next thing I heard was, “Okay, let’s do it!”.

Since that moment, our lives and mindset have changed forever. At the time, I was just promoted to Branch Manager at one of the highest performing credit unions in the state and started a side hustle as a mobile bartender for fun. Sean was working as a serial entrepreneur well-known for hosting/dj parties, managing his own lawn care business, and worked as a local barber. Yet, we wanted more for ourselves and believed that our talents could truly flourish in a place where we could be free from our city limitations. We landed in Tampa, Florida in October 2019 after a year of researching and scouting for a place that suited our passions. This is where our business Just Us Productions, was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ready for the plot twist? Behold, here we are, two new Floridians full of ambition that’s now across the country away from family, friends, and security in order to live out our dreams and inspire our community. Then… BOOM, two months after the move, a global pandemic swipes across the country and shuts EVERYTHING down. So behold, here we are now, two new Floridians with no jobs, limited income, no experience in how to start up a new entertainment business and forced to figure out how to survive in this new world. But you know the old saying, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and for us we became invincible! This pressure was exactly what we needed to liberate our creativity and true partnership that lead us to building our own doors of opportunities.

So what did we do? It’s simple, we just never gave up! We attended countless networking events, contacted hundreds of event planners, serviced free events for exposure, and focused on building meaningful relationships. We realized that it’s all about having a winner’s mindset and treating each obstacle as a learning opportunity. The next thing we knew it, we started getting bookings for luxury yacht clubs, fashion shows, weddings, highly-rated restaurants, and many other community events that allowed us to do what we love. These events have opened up so many great opportunities, which has lead us to one of our biggest collaborations yet as a premier vendor for Zoo Tampa! We dedicated ourselves to providing fun experiences and great memories during one of the most painful times in our generation because we understood how important it was for people to find more reasons to enjoy life and be unapologetically free to be yourself.

We are your professional and lively entertainment duo ready to bring you an amazing party with a live DJ showcase, fun mobile bartenders with portable cocktail bars, interactive cocktail workshops for private events, and the crowd’s favorite Magic Mirror Photobooth. What I’m most proud of with my business is that Just Us Productions is more then just a brand, its a way of life that encourages positive upliftment and the celebration of life. There is no better feeling in the world then to see guests filled with joy and excitement to share memories together in laughter. I believe that God has placed a divine mission in our hearts to be of service to others and we allow our passion for entertainment to guide our journey.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
One of my favorite activities growing up used to be going to the local credit union with my mom where she would go to deposit her payroll checks and perform transactions. I remember being a young girl with a strong thirst for knowledge and annoying everyone around me by asking a thousand questions about everything. The branch that she would frequent was in the middle of an elite business district in Dearborn, Michigan and just so happened to be managed by an all-women staff. I was so amazed to see these powerful women walk around with so much authority and confidence with their tailored fit business suits and lavish offices that I knew at a young age that I wanted to be a boss just like them. Fast forward to my freshman year at Eastern Michigan University, I was hired by the same credit union as a cash teller that started my journey of financial literacy, business management, and customer service.

I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for all the women in higher-up positions extending their hands of encouragement and support to me in my career, which molded me to stand tall against any adversity. As the youngest branch manager in the company, I quickly learned the power of being confident in your abilities, having a positive mindset, and giving back to the community. I used the skills that I learned at the bank and applied them to my everyday life, which lead me to start up several business ventures, work as a fitness coach at local schools, and develop a passion for reading and sharing knowledge.

Music and entertainment has always served as an outlet for me to be expressive and empowered my creativity in the most impactful ways. Once I noticed how universal these elements were to others, I instantly knew that this was my calling and has since guided me to pour my passion into helping others to feel this same sense of freedom and joy.
