Today we’d like to introduce you to Edna Goldberg
Hi Edna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the United States at the age of 19 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I learned English and worked as an Engineer/Engineering Project Manager in the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries all around the U. S. for 15 years. I met my husband Howard in Dallas, Texas when he came as a sales representative for packaging equipment which I intended to purchase as part of a manufacturing line upgrade. Howard is also my partner in our real estate team and he has over 30 years of experience in sales!
Howard and I married and we settled in the Tampa Bay area in 2010 where Howard was already living, and I worked for a Water Filtration Manufacturer for 7 years. As we age we realize our priorities and vision for success changes and I wanted to change careers. It is very hard to let go of a steady paycheck to start over as self-employed but with the support of my dear husband and business partner, we saved enough to cover expenses for a year and dove right in. First, I established my photography business (www.timelesstampa.com) and through it, I started doing real estate photography where I met several agents who encouraged me to get my license. My favorite gigs were real estate shoots, I’ve always loved real estate careers but did not have enough information or encouragement to pursue it. About 6 years ago, I went for it. During the pandemic, my husband also obtained his license, and today we work together as a team to provide the best customer service experience for our buyers and sellers. We believe in quality of business rather than number or transactions. We all want to make money but we believe customer service goes a long way, not only because we love to treat our customers as we want to be treated but also our customers will come back because they will have a positive and long-lasting impression from our work. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and very hands-on! I am known to go and help our customers with moving and doing light rehab on their property in order to save them in labor expenses and obtain the most for their property. We are also Commercial Real Estate Agents certified and we do also work with commercial real estate customers.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been difficult but rewarding. It has been difficult to let go of a steady income. As an engineer, I thought I was terrible selling anything. Luckily I have my husband Howie which is so well versed in sales that I have become pretty awesome as a negotiator. Howard is the most personable and patient person I know and he has helped me tremendously to be a great sales agent. Also, as with any new venture, there is a learning curve. In real estate is of extreme importance to be knowledgeable on laws and different types of transactions and situations because after all, you are dealing with other people’s money, home and financial future and we do not take that lightly. The types of diversity we have encountered with all our transactions have given us and continue to give us solid foundation to serve our future customers. We have dealt with transactions pending probate, unpermitted work, closing permits before transaction closing, customers in very delicate situations, failed inspections, and lots of negotiations to keep a transaction going.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our future customers should know that we are The Best Choice Team, proudly serving under Coldwell Banker Pickett Fences Realty. We have an office in Seminole, FL and we are relocating our Land o Lakes office probably to Spring HIll, FL.
We are a husband-and-wife team with combined 50 years experience in sales and our reviews speak for themselves! We list and market commercial and residential property and we DO market! We do not sit on our listings. My husband, Howard Goldberg, has over 30 years experience in sales. I am an engineer who decided to pursue a career in real estate and loving it! Howard is native of Toronto and I am native of Puerto Rico. The universe brought us together 16 years ago and there is no other partner I would rather have! We both believe in taking care of our customers with prompt service and transparency above all. I am a native Spanish speaker so we are able to serve a big group of customers in our beautiful and diverse Tampa Bay area, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties but there is no home too far for us. We;ve had listings in Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando! Once you choose to work with us you will also have professional photography for your listing, video walkthrough, and a free 4-point inspection free of charge! Customer satisfaction is our priority.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I wish I had full understanding of how expensive it is to maintain your real estate license. People tell you but it is not fully explained that you have to take continued education, pay for several memberships and that the only way you will fully understand how a transaction goes is by just practicing. Also, your broker is the most important asset when joining a brokerage. Always inquire about how involved the broker is and how knowledgeable. My broker has been a wealth of information to me and a source of calm when things have gotten difficult and your broker should also be able to step in when you are unable to perform at a customer’s expectation. This hasn’t happened to me, but I know that if the time comes, I can count on my broker to help.
