Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaliyyah Dyani (AD)
Hi Aaliyyah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Greetings, everyone! My name is Aaliyyah Dyani (born Aaliyah J. Deggs), but I prefer to go by “AD.” I am a Kansas City, Missouri native who relocated to Tampa, Florida, in June 2019. I identify as a polymath, serial entrepreneur, visionary, lifelong learner, educator, risk-taker, and trailblazer. As a first-generation college graduate, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, a Master’s degree in Higher Education with an emphasis on American Indian Higher Education from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, and I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, I have earned numerous educational, coaching, and professional certifications.
I have always been passionate and determined. Once I set my sights on a vision or goal, I focus all my energy on achieving it. My entrepreneurial journey includes serving as the Founder and CEO of Black Girl Hula, Infinity Genealogy, Aaliyah J. Deggs Consulting, and Infinity Doula, as well as working as a Realtor with Siven Premier Real Estate. I do not believe in limitations, boxes, or lanes. Instead, I encourage everyone to explore their interests, hobbies, and goals. We are multifaceted, talented, and dimensional beings who deserve to express ourselves in numerous ways. For me, it is important to identify the common themes that connect my passions. Regardless of the business type or focus, my ultimate goal is to educate and make a positive impact.
I could not have achieved all of this before turning 30 without the unwavering love and support of my family, loved ones, and community. They keep me motivated and inspired!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In my opinion, entrepreneurship is never flawless. It is truly a spiritual and vulnerable journey that reveals both strengths and areas for growth and development. I am an “idea” person, capable of generating ideas in milliseconds. However, my ideas and vision sometimes hinder me from executing. I have learned to step out of my own way and embrace self-promotion.
Additionally, while I am proud of my self-investments, I wish I had sought credible funding support before transitioning into full-time entrepreneurship. Lastly, my greatest challenge is dealing with others projecting their fears onto me. People often assume that having multiple businesses means I am unfocused or too busy. However, since elementary school, I have managed multiple responsibilities and extracurricular activities, and I thrive in that space. For me, it is all about time management, organization, and understanding your peak and low seasons.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for being authentically myself and reminding others of their greatness. I leverage my diverse experiences and strengths as a catalyst for positive change and holistic development across various industries.

My goal is to empower and support families throughout their journeys.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Yes! I want to offer four points of advice. First, take strategic risks. Be intentional about where and how you spend your time and resources. Do not be afraid to invest in yourself and your business. Take online classes, attend webinars, and watch YouTube videos that help you build the skills and knowledge needed as an entrepreneur.
Secondly, remember that entrepreneurship is the answer to some things, but not all. It will not automatically cure previous burnout and may even increase it if you have not fully addressed and healed from it. Also, it is perfectly okay to work a traditional job until your business(es) become so successful that you are forced to resign.
Third, in-person visibility is just as important as social media visibility. Local community exposure can make all the difference. Attend events as both a patron and a vendor, connect with other entrepreneurs, and volunteer or offer services for free when possible. Your presence and connections can be invaluable during slow seasons.
Lastly, eliminate your personal debt. This may seem obvious, but it is a crucial step. Significant personal debt can limit your ability to qualify for business credit and other financial support needed to build and sustain your business(es).
