Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Dean
Hi Jon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always prioritized health and fitness in my life. It’s become more important to me in recent years for many reasons. So instead of strictly focusing on my own solo journey, I decided to design and open a contrast therapy studio for people to explore and enhance their fitness and wellness journey. Contrast therapy has such great benefits for recovery and overall well-being. The response has been really positive. What makes us unique is that we offer a community driven space, with a traditional sauna experience coupled with modern cold plunge tubs. What also inspired me to open Balance House is the In Person nature of heat and cold exposure. Doing hard things everyday comes in many different forms. What’ distinguishes contrast therapy is that it forces you to be in the moment, leaving most distractions set aside. In the coming years, I think more and more value will be placed on not only managing and improving our health through different protocols, but just the basic notion of being part of a community, something larger than ourselves.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’d say it’s been as smooth a road as any other for an entrepreneur. Always bumps in the road, but that’s what makes it interesting.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Balance House Studio offers thermal contrast therapy for both beginners and experienced sauna/cold plungers. We also offer red light therapy panels in both private and group settings. There’s a locker room for guests to safely stow their belongings, along with private changing/shower rooms. The space offers a tranquil setting with a focus on proper lighting to create the vibe. Music is also an important component to the experience. We are proud of the name Balance House due to the fact that people are always trying to achieve and maintain balance in their lives. We know balance is something to strive for on a daily basis. Hopefully Balance House is a place where people will look for that.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Well the Huberman Lab Podcast is always a solid go to. WimHof Method book, along with Susanna Soberg’s book Winter Swimming. Other inspiring people, other than my family, are guys like Jocko Wilink and David Goggins.
