Life & Work with Persis Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Persis Thomas.

Persis Thomas

Hi Persis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I grew up always loving music. I grew up in the church actually, my dad was a pastor and musician. I didn’t start taking music seriously til December 2022. Music has always been my escape and safety and I was dealing with so much I just started to write and post my music. Someone noticed me from Instagram and got me in the studio for the first time and the rest is history!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I had a pretty great childhood but the things I went thru money couldn’t really fix. And 2 months after graduating high school I lost my dad. To me, music is a part of him that I have and so I love using that gift. It heals me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Well, I would classify myself as an artist. I just love to create whether that’s writing, singing, fashion, music, or whatever I just love to create. Right now I’m focusing on my music craft and letting the world see my gift.

I am most proud of being able to remain myself and encourage myself with my purpose. I think what sets me apart is my versatility and not being influenced by what’s popular. Everything I create I love first and I think that’s what makes everybody else love it too!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly social media of course helps me market myself and my talent and connect myself with new people every day. I also am obsessed with a few podcasts at the moment but the “Your favorite aunties” podcast has definitely helped me walk into my purpose.
