Exploring Life & Business with Amari Clements of Knomi Kado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amari Clements.

Hi Amari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Over the years I’ve had a plethora of business ideas; yet due to a lack of passion, motivation, and confidence, none of them came to fruition. On the phone with one of my best friends one day, we somehow started talking about our former business ideas and just better money-making ideas in general for the sake of our sanity.

We eventually came up with Trove Gifts. We spent weeks planning strategies, personas, branding, etc for a gift concierge service tailored to single women, and then just like that, we shifted away from the idea altogether. 10 months later I received an email from Realize Bradenton, and it mentioned a free 9-week business course.

Thinking this was my opportunity to revive Trove, I applied but didn’t get accepted. A few days later someone apparently backed out, and lo and behold Trove Gifts was reborn. My friend ended up pursuing another venture, but with her blessing, Trove Gifts turned into Knomi Kado LLC, and now here we are.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not smooth but surely not as bumpy as a lot of new business owners, so I’m grateful. I don’t like the pressure of attending networking events and I have a hard time talking to people most days, so trying to launch a new business in a relatively new city can be overwhelming.

However, those are personal issues I’m working to overcome. My business itself is mostly worry-free: my biggest obstacle is whether the items I’ve ordered will arrive on time and if they’re going to be the right products.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Knomi Kado is a boutique gift concierge service. We send surprise gift boxes to women for any occasion based on their budget, preferences, and style. We aren’t a subscription box. We don’t buy in bulk nor do we sell overstock. On average our gift box contains 10 items related exclusively to your survey results, so that survey is the most important part of the transaction.

Readers should know I don’t have my own store, and the website isn’t an e-commerce site. You submit that survey and then the shopping commences. We shop online, in public markets, major retailers, local businesses, etc. Also, note no two boxes will ever be exactly alike.

Knomi Kado was created to put thought back into gift-giving, regardless of your status.

So whether you’re buying this gift for yourself or an amazing woman in your life, you can relax now because we got this.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The usual, tell a friend, engage with our posts, follow our social channels, and obviously purchase a gift box to really see how good we are at what we do. We’d love some collaborations with local businesses and of course, larger retailers if it’s something that makes sense for both parties. We could easily add samples to our gift boxes.

Something as simple as placing some of our promotional items in your store would also be a great help. We’ve also had some realtors and other business owners express interest in helping with their thank-you gifts but nothing has panned out yet. But it’s fine, it’s just a matter of time before something sticks.
