Meet Yasmine Gardiner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yasmine Gardiner.

Hi Yasmine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

Of course! Thank you for interviewing me. I am Yasmine Gardiner, Founder of ClearSet Consulting and Gardiner Styles. I’m originally from Miami, FL but was raised in Tampa, FL. Even though I’m a Florida girl, my roots are in the Caribbean. I’m a proud West Indian girl! My hobbies include traveling, cars, music, reading articles, foods, the outdoors, history, and of course… Shopping! Haha. I love to dress up and get cute for any occasion.

My passion for fashion started in 7th grade. I was so excited about high school that I would write what I would wear each day in high school. After being humiliated by peers, I had put that passion to the side and was focused on succeeding in Track and Field; my second love. I started fashion styling back in mid-2020. I had just gotten out of a relationship that wasn’t healthy and lost my self-confidence.

One day, I went shopping and decided to dress up for myself and realized that I am more beautiful than I thought! My outfit changed my perspective of confidence and I wanted to help others find theirs too.  From there, I started to style everyday people and then eventually landed an opportunity to be a Wardrobe Stylist/Costumer for an independent film.

I continued my styling journey but wanted to combine my IT coding and AI/ML skills with my fashion styling passion, and that is where I formed and built Gardiner Styles in the Fall of 2021. Gardiner Styles is a virtual styling boutique that allows you to have a virtual stylist while also being your own stylist. Because Gardiner Styles is going to take time to build the algorithm, it is still in the works. In the meantime, I’ll be launching products on our temporary website while the main website is being built.

As for ClearSet Consulting, I started as a freelancer and once I got more comfortable with coding, visualizations, and the advance features in Excel, I knew I could turn this into a great and fun business. My consulting business operates on a B2B model so I am committed to helping small to large businesses and companies understand their data to make meaningful ROI decisions. I also want to help those who are transitioning or want to transition into IT by creating study guides and online courses. I am currently creating an online course. Subscribe for the release date!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

It has not been a smooth road! Haha. With personal styling, I faced struggles of not receiving callbacks from wardrobe styling film opportunities, potential clients choosing a different stylist for their wardrobe needs, and wasting money on ads that didn’t bring in new leads.

As a Data Scientist in IT, I faced struggles of not understanding the task requirements and being removed from the task, potential clients not showing up for an initial consultation, wasting money on ads that didn’t bring in new leads, no callbacks during hiring stage, taken advantage of my expertise skills, and I’ve been wrongfully terminated and laid off. Haha, wow right! It has been a long yet lesson learned journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

My current career is in IT. I am a Data Scientist for USSOCOM. My career has allowed me to showcase my creativity and critical thinking skills while making a lot of money doing it. Being a Data Scientist is very intriguing!

I get to build Artificial Intelligence models that will help me understand the future outcome using past data. I am naturally a planner who plans for the future, so being in this industry understanding and reading data has allowed me to prepare for the future based on the past.

On my spare time, I am a virtual stylist, closet auditor, wardrobe stylist, and spend more time building Gardiner Styles. I can’t wait to launch our exciting new products and services! Follow us on Instagram to be on the lookout.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love to read articles! Articles are my go-to’s. My favorite blogs are TechCrunch and Towards Data Science, every day for one hour I would read various articles on MSN for fun and to educate myself on what’s going on in the world.
