Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Ranew.
Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. I grew up with a love for music, writing and creativity. I went to school for music and after graduation I briefly pursued the path of professional music. As much as I loved singing, I realized that was not the path for me. I went on to work at a Christian Media Company that was International and based in Mobile, named Integrity Media. It was a great opportunity and I wanted to grow in the music industry. Unfortunately that company was bought out and laid off most the of staff, including myself. That lay off turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it forced me to rethink things. What did I really want to do with my life? Well, I always had the spirit of entrepreneurship. A few months earlier during my time at Integrity Music I had started my own event planning company on the side, just testing it out to see if I liked it. I had a lot of fun creating a business from the ground up!
With my lay off, it gave me a bit of a cushion to continue to pursue that and also dive into another passion of mine, real estate. In 2013, I got licensed in real estate and joined Better Homes & Gardens. It was an amazing local branch of BHGRE and the leadership there was great. I was mentored by some of the best. In 2015, my husband got a job opportunity which would move us to St Pete. We had always wanted to live in Florida and it was something we couldn’t pass up on for him. So we took the leap of faith and moved somewhere we didn’t know anything about. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. We definitely lucked out with St Pete! Granted, it was a tough transition but after about 6 months to a year, we had started to make some great friends and it began to feel like home. I was the office admin at my company during that time, Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. After a year and a half, in Spring of 2017, I finally felt like I was ready to get back into the game, so I transitioned back to real estate sales and started selling full time at the company. It has certainly been a wild ride, but I have loved every minute of it! The people we have met here and the ways we have gotten involved in the community have all made it worth it. I love living in the Sunshine City and enjoying our amazing weather and beautiful views!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has certainly not been a smooth road! I have struggled with anxiety in the past and limiting beliefs in myself. When we moved to St Pete, anxiety definitely came back in full force. It was hard to transition into the unknown of a brand new city and not knowing a soul. But in the end it was all worth it because I have met some of the most amazing people and achieved so many things personally and professionally that I know I never would have it I hadn’t had stuck it out. Moving here and starting my career over from scratch forced me out of my comfort zone and helped me change my mindset. Changing my mindset was so freeing – it helped me become the best version of myself. I finally feel like the authentic version of myself. I love encouraging others to strive to do the same in their lives!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Global Real Estate Advisor with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. I help people realize the importance of home in their lives! I focus on residential real estate and I am a relocation specialist. Having moved here from another state I know how hard it is to start over in a new city. That helps me anticipate the needs of my clients and be their educator and advocate. I have worked very hard to create a positive and growth mindset in my life and business. This helps me problem solve for my clients and fight to find a way forward. Buying or selling real estate is one of the most stressful things someone can go through so I love being able to provide value and resources to my clients and a positive culture to help us get to the finish line. Something else that sets me apart from others is my love and involvement in this community. I am the Chair for St Pete Young Professionals for 2021 and I have served on this board within the St Pete Chamber for the past three years. I love giving back to this amazing community. Our local businesses are the heart and soul of our community and its why people move here. I started my podcast, St Pete Soul, to celebrate just that. I interview local business owners and tell their stories. Customers can connect with them on an intimate level and it makes the business come alive in a new way. This podcast has been another way I can give back to the city I love and it has helped me meet so many amazing people too.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Maintaining a positive and abundance mindset is key in this business. There are a lot of obstacles along the way and this enables me to stay clear-headed and help my clients not let emotions get in the way of good decision making. I am diligent about my morning routine of starting out with gratitude and positive readings. This helps keep me in the right frame of mind all day long.
