Inspiring Conversations with Alyssa Young of The Unlimited Refills Blog

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Young.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Alyssa, Founder & Chief Blogger of The Unlimited Refills Blog, as well as my own personal brand.

To begin, the creation of The Unlimited Refills Blog started as I began to realize that life was made for more than just living, and living it more than just half-in (or half-full)! I love bringing content that not only touches on the happy sides of life such as solo- travel (one of my personal favs) and the best places for a latte, but also the tough and messy topics we often try to avoid like unhealthy relationships in the workplace or setting boundaries and sticking to them.

With the launch of The Unlimited Refills Blog at the beginning of 2022, I’ve witnessed a greater impact than I could have ever hoped for. For as long as I can remember, at least going back to the age of being in middle school, I had always been terrified to use my voice. I *literally* had a 504 plan in school so that teachers, by law, could not ask me to give presentations in class… looking back, that’s crazy! Since then, I’ve found my voice, given talks, spoken on podcasts, and a panel, and shared my story with more people than I can count – all the way across the country!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely… not! My story started with trauma, and today I am glad to say it has landed me here; ready to share, inspire, encourage, and teach others how to maintain their own personal cup with unlimited refills. Although my journey was not a walk on the beach, I am glad to say it has landed me there – literally.

In just the personal areas of my life and before I launched The Unlimited Refills Blog, I went through some serious toxicity, and very real challenges, and found myself along the way. The road had a lot of bumps, stop signs, and speed-ups, but no U-turns – keep going forward!

With all that I went through, I feel my true purpose in this life is to be a voice, an advocate, and a supporter of others, from all walks of life as I share the many places I’ve been in mine.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Unlimited Refills Blog. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
When I began the journey of creating The Unlimited Refills Blog, truthfully, there was SO much I wanted to cover. I had been approached many times to talk about my own personal story, which I call Trauma into Triumph, what a toxic work environment can look like and how to pinpoint those red flags, how to have a balance between both your personal and professional lives, as well as why mental health is not a hindering factor of your success.

I have given presentations on many different areas which are covered in my blog. When I wrote about my personal journey through an eating disorder, my blog went nationwide, and fast! I reached women across the nation and had over 20 women personally reach out to me, including a sweet young girl all the way in South Dakota. For me, this was a very happy and sad moment; happy in the fact that she was able to find this resource I’ve provided but sad that she is living what was one of the hardest areas of my life.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the impact I am able to make on the lives of others. I am blessed to be able to do what I do, and with all that I have gone through to be where I am today, I’m happy to be that resource for others and take the walk with them.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
Ah, luck… I don’t know about that one. I could tell you all day long that I feel unlucky to have gone through what I have, but then I wouldn’t have the platform that I have today. It’s truly been an honor to share my story, inspire others to share theirs, and be an advocate.
