Meet Lady Ni’cole

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady Ni’cole.

Hi Lady, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Morgan Tisby, but as a music artist, I go by the name “Lady Ni’cole.” I was born and raised in South, Ga. I always grew up singing since I was a little girl. I remember daydreaming in front of the tv a lot and dancing around pretending like I was in the music video. Over the years, I found myself participating in many art forms pertaining to music. I would perform at local festivals, school talent shows, putting together choreography for different competitions, and being apart of different dance groups. I have always loved music and have been writing since the age of 12. After high school, I decided to join the Army. Not only did I gain a lot of expertise experience, but I also got to travel and see the world. While living in many different places, I also got the chance to audition for The Voice and America’s Got Talent. Although it was a wonderful and humbling experience, I did not make it to the next round of auditions. One thing I love about myself is that I am a true fighter and never give up easily on things that mean the absolute world to me. At this time, I thought long and hard about my future and the desires I have for my life when it comes to being successful.

Shortly after separating from the military, I moved to Tampa in 2016 to finally chase my true dreams. My goal in life is to be a successful music artist but also a successful independent business owner. I have always had an entrepreneur and leadership spirit about myself. For years I would sit and think of possible future projects I could get my hands into and bring to life. I used to draw sketches of different clothing and different logo designs because I had dreams of being a fashion designer. I once used to make bracelets and sell them to other kids on the playground for $3.00, but soon came to learn that it was not allowed. Over the years of my adult life, I have come to realize you do not have to put yourself in a box. Why can’t we go after all of our dreams and passions? Who said we only have to do one thing in order to be successful? In 2019 I decided to attend a beauty school to pursue a career as an Esthetician. It was at that point where a spark came to life, and I decided to jump out on the ledge and start my own business. Thus Skinology Studio, LLC was born. When you’re a naturally ambitious person, you don’t mind taking risks in life. The success is going to be found on the other side of fear. Skinology Studio is a skincare based company where I am currently focusing on Microblading services, but will soon be offering facial services as well. I wanted to create something to help women and men regain their confidence and enhance the true Queen or King that lives inside.

Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow service that lasts two to three years, depending on the clients’ skin type. So gone are the days of constantly having to fill in your brows with make-up. With microblading, you can have instant beautiful brows with no “down-time” necessary! It has been a rough journey starting a new business. I have never taken a business class in my life, but somehow I find myself so natural at it. I research a lot of things and teach myself how to do them in order to cut down a lot of overhead. In the process, I have gained more insight into graphic design, marketing techniques, choosing brand colors, fonts, and more. I am so proud of building Skinology Studio, LLC from the ground up, as it has truly been a life teacher. Knowing what I know now, I tell myself… if I can start one business, I can start many more. The goal is to live financially free and living life truly living out your dreams and passions. When you become an entrepreneur, you will learn that there are a lot of things they don’t teach you in school. When you learn what those “things” are, that is where the magic happens.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles of being a music artist/business owner is having to do everything on your own. Things can be much easier when you have a team that you can delegate certain tasks to in order to reach the end product. Although it can be difficult at times, it can still teach you a lot of things that can help you go a long way. It teaches you how to put yourself out there and network. You become the manager, the designer, the song-writer, and the brand. It teaches you how to do inventory, find wholesale vendors for products, how to promote your music, social media tactics, financial aspects of being an artist/business owner, and so much more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer/song-writer. I think what sets me apart from others is that I do not put myself in a box when it comes to expressing myself as an artist. My genre of music can range from R&B, Hip-Hop, & Pop. My ability to write creative melodies and catchy hooks that are different from others is truly fascinating. I have my own style and I love it. As a business owner, I feel that my business is different because it is a “niche” business. The beauty industry is booming these days. Microblading has been around for years, but not many people have heard about it here in Tampa. Even though there are already some of those businesses here, everyone has an opportunity to gain clientele. Not everyone does microblading the same, and you can see the results in the artist’s work.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like best about Tampa is the diversity. There are so many different artists, creatives, and business owners that have something unique to offer to the area. If you’re looking for something specific, I’m sure you will have no problem finding it here. What I least like about Tampa is how underrated it is. There is a vibe and potential here that not a lot of people know about that do not live here. So many artists, creatives, and business owners have that initial problem of being discovered.
