Today we’d like to introduce you to Lea Von Damon.
Lea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been fortunate enough to have been in this industry for over a decade. I had the pleasure of working as an assistant photographer throughout high school and decided to continue to peruse my passion after it. Working with all walks of life and brands for several years, at one point I was asked to be on the other side of the lens and ended up enjoying that as well! It taught me so much more about my craft and gave me a greater understanding of my industry as a whole.
Now I’ve had the pleasure of working with so many amazing people, families, companies, and brands. And bring with me experience, not only as a photographer but also as and model. This gives me an advantage in working with my clients as I know how it is on both sides of the lens. Easily communicating the photography world to the average customer, who most likely won’t be privy.
Not to mention have a blast while I am photographing you! Being in front of a camera can be uncomfortable for even the most experienced model. My job is to not only produce amazing images but to make the day an experience you will never forget for everyone involved. I pride myself on making my client’s dreams not only come true but succeeding in what they ever thought they could imagine.
From catalog shoots, senior portraits, and social media content, to your latest collection release. I’m here to make the impossible possible. I’m all about my quality of work and take the time to insure my client’s expectations are succeeded every time.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There are always ups and downs to life, for me personally I’ve had people steal images and claim them as their own. I’ve dealt with clients forging my signature, no-shows, rude clients, you name it. But that’s part of what you sign yourself up for when you choose to be creative and make it your job.
Life was never meant to be easy, work is work, I simply have the pleasure of truly loving what I do which pushes out any negativity, and low moments. Keep your head-up blinders on and just go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I started Von Damon Photography, with the mindset of being a photographer that other photographers would want to book, as we are generally our own worst critics. I pride myself and my business on extreme attention to detail, and on exceeding my client’s wildest dreams. I’m known best for my portrait work and have had the pleasure of being featured in several magazines, and events for portraits, glamour, and fashion work.
I have also been extremely successful with my product photography, and have had the pleasure of working with brands and companies from all over the world, from Sullen Clothing to Death Wish Coffee Co. just to name a few. I’m known by my clients as the one-woman show, I can fully coordinate and execute full production photoshoots 100% remotely from my client if they can’t travel to me or vice versa.
I often can produce the same work as my competitors in half the time, due to my level of experience which is an added bonus to my clients, as time is money. From your latest social media content to your latest feature in a fashion magazine, all you have to do is call for a consult and let’s make your photography dreams come true!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m personally not one for believing in luck. Sadly we are not at Hogwarts and we don’t have liquid luck lying around to take on a bad day. I do however believe in karma, I always try to put out good energy to the world, and generally get it back. A bad day is just that a bad day, and you should never let either affect your business.
We all have bad days and maybe need to take a break from work or life for a day or two. As far as good days go, I try to find something positive in even the worst of situations. So any day can be a good day, it’s all about your mindset. Bad things happen, make it work for you. I recently had a senior portrait photo shoot, the entire day it down poured. I told my client, just trust me it will all work out, don’t worry.
The shoot was set to be outside at a beautiful waterfront park in St. Pete, I arrived early and of course, It’s still raining. Not a problem for me, I brought a white pop-up tent which not only gave me beautiful lighting but kept my client dry. I also always have a changing tent with me so my clients can easily change, even in the middle of downtown St. Pete on a Friday night.
I never gave up, kept shooting, and sure enough, the clouds departed and we had the most stunning sunset. My client was so ecstatic about the experience they want to peruse modeling now. Life is life, let it be and just ride the wave, there is no good or bad luck, it’s about how you make it work.
