Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Dweck & Brad Scully.
Hi Melissa & Brad, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Out of high school, Brad found an interest in the film. He began filming at age 16 and started filming professionally at age 18. His first professional gig was with Melissa, filming her brother’s wedding video. Melissa, being a director, found an interest in the filming side of things and partnered with Brad to start Knack For That Productions. Since 2019 we have expanded from filming weddings to real estate, to drone work and corporate commercial jobs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Following strong morals and ethics, we have not experienced many struggles along the way. We have enjoyed the process of learning the do’s and don’ts of running a business and being entrepreneurs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Knack For That Productions?
We are a videography team that specializes in promotional business videos, weddings, and real estate. Our main focus is on bringing other people’s businesses and stories to life. We believe that what we have become known for is our ability to show an exciting and honest portrayal of our clients, whether that be through showcasing their business or their relationship or by giving a story to those who deserve to be recognized. We believe our integrity is what sets us apart. We love what we do, and part of that is because we stay true to who we are. We believe in being honest and not just working for our clients but becoming friends with them. We want to understand the story they want to tell so that we do it in the best way possible. We are most proud of the work we have done with Sarasota High School. We have donated over $25,000.00 worth of time and services to the high school. Sarasota high school had a football program that had such heart and was trying to rebuild and we wanted to showcase that to the area. So we followed them for an entire season, telling the story of the team, its coaches, and players and showcasing their work.
The following year we donated our time to help them navigate the world with COVID-19 by live-streaming their sporting, choir, and theater events. It has been both a rewarding experience not just being able to work with the high school, but we have taken on twenty student interns, giving them the chance to learn and be a part of the process. We want the readers to know that if you have a business or a story and you believe that it is one that should be shown, we want you to contact us. We love helping others get the word out and creating a positive environment for all businesses, especially with all that is going on now; this includes real estate. We work with real estate companies, individual realtors, and sale by the homeowner.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We, of course, give credit to our parents who have supported our stressful lifestyle that comes with starting a business but professionally, we would also like to give credit to David Jones and Xiwei and Rachel Ying. These three have always supported our business and encouraged us to continue the work we love to do.
