Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamalee Montgomery.
Hi Jamalee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started a Fitness company back in 2013 which I had started in Gainesville, Florida and closed down in 2019 due to a divorce, the cleaning company was started in 2018 and I was able to relocate after the divorce to the Lutz Area to start over again, with the cleaning company, just doing word-of-mouth, Facebook groups, and Instagram.
I have kept the cleaning company small because I do it myself to make sure that the client’s request for their home is what they come home to, but aside from the cleaning business, because again it’s just me that does it and I want to get back in the mental health and wellness area along with fitness.
So I’ve been working on doing that, I have a certificate in life coaching where I help women that are in a slump, who might be going through depression that just doesn’t feel comfortable going into a gym so I do one on one sessions with them currently, I am working with some wonderful businesswoman out of Orlando area to complete my business plan where I have a few investors looking to help me open up my true dream and purpose.
This idea will be a ladies-only facility and it is basically a one-stop shop for us ladies I can’t give details about it just yet but it would be looking to open in the Odessa area off of State Road 54.
Hopefully in the fall, besides that, I’ve also recently got my insurance license and I’m working with Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk and helping families not get left behind and understand the importance of financial literacy, so my entrepreneurship never stops.
My purpose is to help people in my life being an entrepreneur does just that in different realms!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2013, opening up a fitness industry not knowing anything about it was a little bit difficult I did have a great couple that owned a CrossFit gym in Gainesville that led the way, and luckily the business did nothing but excel, and again the only reason I closed it down was due to the divorce and planning on relocating.
The only struggle I had with the cleaning business would be when Covid hit because people didn’t want you in their house, so even though you could try to market as keeping it clean and keeping Covid away that still wasn’t good enough for people it was really frightening for people the situation with Covid so that took a hit in the financial area of my life, but I did have dedicated clients that did keep things afloat.
And right now with my new business venture, it’s always the financial aspect finding the financial means to open up the business showing the numbers that the investors want to see to make the investment for them worth it.
I also find that you have a lot of people second-guess you and question why you’re doing it and why you just don’t go get a 9 to 5 and I would tell others that want to do something on their own or if they feel like they want to pursue their purpose never let anybody’s opinion of what you want to do affect that dream of yours always seek it out
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My companies are all based around helping others.
There was a time in my life when I felt lost and I didn’t have anybody so my purpose-driven right now in my life and it has been for many years is to not allow anyone to think that they are alone, my cleaning company I help people clean their home because either their schedules don’t allow them to or they are elderly and have no one to help them so I feel I am put in their life to make their life easier and I enjoy doing it.
My rebuild program helps women that just feel lost or that are in depression we go out and do fitness based on what they are looking for we review their health, their nutrition, their goals, and we talk about real life and what has gotten them to the point where they’re at and how are we going to get them to the point where they want to be it starts from within first my insurance company that I am in partnership with Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.
Again it is helping people understand financial literacy do you know about your money how to invest it how to make it grow how to make it work for you, not for other people, do you have life insurance policies, do you have a trust set up, so many things that people don’t know or don’t understand and are afraid to ask questions that is what we’re therefore to help you leave a legacy for your family, no family should ever be left behind.
And my next business that’s in the works that will hopefully break ground in Odessa around fall is a ladies only one stop shop and that’s all I can say about it because what I am preparing for that location will quickly open up other locations throughout the state of Florida guarantee it because of what it’s gonna do to help so many people but that’s for a future story.
I miss proud of being able to get out of a 9 to 5 and being able to start businesses from scratch with zero and be able to provide for my children I am the sole provider for them and that’s what I’m most proud of for them to be able to look and see that mom has done everything possible to make sure that we are OK.
I think a great quality that sets me apart from others is that I am big on empowerment so I encourage other women I help advertise for other women I want everybody to be successful if everybody had the mindset of helping each other instead of being jealous of what another person has our world would be so much more different.
In my eyes, it’s not what I have or what I could have it’s how do I help that person how can I help another person, Because when you start helping other people things start to the lineup in your life in a different way
What’s next?
Right now I’m in the works of finalizing a business plan, I have sponsorships already set up but I am looking for that financial help right now, so an investor which I think I have, but I don’t stop what I foresee happening because I don’t have the money yet, I know that it will come.
So right now I am working on a great business idea and I plan on opening it hopefully in the fall and the Odessa Florida area if it goes over as well as we think it’s going to go there will be several locations throughout Florida, I can’t give much detail about it besides again it’s for ladies only and it’ll be a one-stop shop and it will be awesome for the communities for all ages of women
I also look forward to doing more speaking and sharing my testimony because I have been through a lot of storms and I know that my story can help others I’ve mentioned previously in my questions and answers I love to help people.
If I can just help one person with my story/testimony then that is a blessing so finding a way to get out in the community and share that is a huge goal of mine for this year and for the future.
