Today we’d like to introduce you to Dona Crowley.
Hi Dona, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was in college I worked as a bartender at a club to help pay for my degree. Bartending was not very creative, so I started promoting club events throughout Providence and Boston. This led to producing my own events. Halfway through college, I decided to transfer to sunny St. Petersburg where I would later graduate from USF with a degree in Psychology / Criminology. After passing the LSAT, and almost enrolling into law school I got a call from a colleague that presented a business proposal. He said, let’s start our own magazine. I remember thinking, that sounds expensive, and it was. I published the fashion art style magazine for a little over 7 years. During this time, I was also producing several fashion events in the Tampa By area. During the 5th year of publishing, I decided to start a large charity fashion and car show, called Cars & Couture at the International Jet Center. The event became popular very quickly and attracted large companies throughout Tampa Bay. About 3 years later I decided to close the magazine and focus on building my own event and marketing business. My company now has seven annual events.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building a business is never a smooth road. You have to stay focused and listen to feedback. The better your business is doing the more people seem to criticize. This is just one of the struggles I had to overcome. I used what people were saying to make the events better. Every single complaint is noted and taken into consideration when planning the next event. It’s important to keep moving forward and ask for feedback.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Luxe Fashion Group LLC is a marketing and event production company. It seems simple right? Not exactly, we specialize in helping other business owners, especially those in the fashion industry get off to the right start. We design business marketing strategic plans for fashion-related businesses to launch their companies and obtain success. On the event side, we specialize in car and fashion-related events. However, we are a for-hire company and can produce any type of event. We are a full-service company providing promotional products, graphic design as well, and all other aspects to creating the perfect event.
We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking?
My business is all about taking risks. The biggest risk I have taken and will take in the future is putting down thousands of dollars to start up a new event or festival. It’s basically like starting a new business every time. There is always a chance that an event will fail and I will lose money. Taking risks is the only way to grow my business.
