Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Turner.
Hi Sydney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always wanted to be an educator for children, even as a little girl. As I got older, I started becoming interested in other areas. However, in 2010, I actually started my first job working with children. I have then seen the importance of children needing an aide in the classroom to help the teacher help children struggling, so I further my education to develop more knowledge in the childcare/education field. Children are our future and deserve the best. In 2018 I got hired on to the Hillsborough County Headstart program as a teacher assistant where my duty was to assist the teacher. However, in 2019, that all changed quickly when I was working in the classroom alone with 20 children, some having behavior problems. I then would go home at night crying, feeling like I was failing the children because they were not retaining the information, and I started feeling as though all my education was a waste. When COVID-19 hit, we were expected to educate preschoolers virtual which is nearly impossible, so of course I began to feel like a failure to our future leaders of tomorrow. Then is when God spoke to me about using my gifts effectively and reach one child at a time by educating them one on one. I stepped out on faith in the middle of a pandemic and opened my business called Ready 2 Transition LLC. Ready 2 Transition is a learning program for children to get the necessary assistance with learning a skill. Children do not need to be afraid to ask questions if they don’t understand. Our job as the transition team is to build relationships not only with the learners but families as well to help them help their children.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing worth having comes easy, but it’s truly about putting your faith in God. He’s the man with the plan, vision and provision.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am passionate about all things I do, from homeless outreaches to educating children. I love supplying the need where it is needed.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Forever be a student with an open mind, heart and ears.
