Daily Inspiration: Meet Will Crum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Crum.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello! I’m a seventh-generation Florida farmer. I got started helping my dad with his blueberries. I then progressed into growing organic fruits and vegetables.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Farming can be difficult in Florida because the economy here is only built to support monoculture. It is not healthy for only one crop to be grown, though. There needs to be diversity. I grow over 60+ crops per year.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The crops I grow are heirloom, passed on through generations and generations. These are the old seed varieties that, although more difficult to grow than modern varieties, have the most flavor and nutrients.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I moved to Los Angeles to play rock n roll music when I was 18. I lived that life out there until I was 29 and started this farm (I am 36 currently).
