Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Wright
Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Dr. Jason Wright, a concierge physical therapist and fitness coach who specializes in working with men who excel in running their businesses yet struggle to have the same success with how they run their bodies and personal health. I do this through remote coaching as well as in-person sessions in the home, gym, or office. This journey began in Kentucky in 2006, when I started working in a gym that was owned by physical therapists. After seven years helping the community, corporations, and those in pain transform their lives by becoming healthier, more resilient versions of themselves for life, I began my transition to working in the clinical setting as a physical therapist. It didn’t take long to realize that most all physical therapy clinics are handcuffed by shrinking insurance reimbursement limitations, the packed schedules with three to four patients an hour, and decreasing numbers of insurance-approved visits led to less-than-optimal patient care. This wasn’t what increasing deductible and copay costs should pay for. People deserved a higher standard of care — a premium experience. I created a mobile concierge physical therapy practice in KY where I was able to provide this kind of experience from the comfort of their own homes, gyms, or offices without having to take off to a busy clinic to catch a glimpse of their Dr for the hour they were there. As word got out to my peers and colleagues, they were extremely supportive and would refer a lot of their patients who were being “cut off” by the insurance limitations of their policies and sent to me because of how they wanted to get back in shape safely without risking re-injury, and I was the only person they trusted since I was a physical therapist who would be training them and could take care of any injuries that might pop up. I was able to bridge the gap between getting them out of pain and getting in shape.
After moving to Tampa in late 2019, I’d found a way to continue working with my fitness coaching clients remotely where they still felt connected to me, but I was essentially starting over in a great new city. To say that it was overwhelming trying to learn the area, where I’d need to go to meet people who needed my services, and if my hybrid style of physical therapy and personal training would even be valued is an understatement. I found myself slipping into the common fitness marketing trap of self-promoting my own physique and over-simplifying the ways to get out of pain and get in the best shape of your life, but it didn’t feel right. After some serious self-awareness and internal auditing, a shift was made to go all-in on serving other male business owners and executives who struggle to find that balance between work and personal care — those who are tired of feeling like their bodies are turning into distractions and liabilities from having the fit and fulfilled life they want. They’ve struggled with getting and staying in shape due to injury or bad experiences or lack of a clear path and they want someone they can trust to hold them to a clear path and offer up solutions when the inevitable setbacks occur. They want someone who can help them figure out how to find a balance that works for them so they can be more energetic, focused, and confident in how they show up in their businesses as well as in their relationships at home. Basically, someone who can help them from holding themselves back, but using pain-free fitness as the keystone. I’ve taken the hard life lessons, combined with extensive experience and training in health coaching, exercise science, and physical therapy, to help other men just like me who want to face that part of us that wants to hold us back from being an all-around better version of ourselves. This takes honesty with ourselves and consistent daily practice to ensure our mind, body, and spirit are being fed positively instead of led negatively. Meaning we act with intention instead of reacting unintentionally. We only get one body and one mind, so we need to be sure to take care of them so we can be our best for ourselves and others. This positively affects how we perform as producers as well. But we can’t do it if we aren’t willing to change things up for the better inside and out.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but the most rewarding events in my life have only come after facing some serious obstacles. I’d been blessed to work with some amazing clients within a short time, but then COVID shut down the in-person sessions right as things were picking up. This was disappointing, but I was fortunate enough to have been preparing to offer online services, so I turned to that as the summer of 2020 came on. That period offered a lot in terms of self-evaluation of myself, my business, and my direction. I decided to make the shift away from just offering one or two-month personal training programs or solely physical therapy treatment plans and going all-in on a deeper way to serve these guys who want to make a change but have struggled with consistency, injuries, or limiting self-beliefs with their bodies. I didn’t really have a choice. Pain is a great teacher. Through a lot of painful experiences in my past, I’d learned a certain way to survive—be funny, be successful, and be whomever they want you to be. That only gets you so far in the journey to having the life that you want.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wright Fit Physiotherapy & Fitness?
Doctor of Physical Therapy and Men’s Fitness Coach Jason Wright has helped hundreds of people overcome the physical, mental, and emotional hurdles holding them back from becoming a better version of themselves using sustainable, pain-free fitness. Wright Fit Concierge PT & Fitness services help bridge the gap between getting out of pain and getting in shape. He provides clients clarity on the path, confidence in the plan, consistent support, and community with other expert resources so they can optimize their health in order to create the confidence, focus, and energy needed at work and more fulfilled relationships at home. I offer services online as well as in-person, where I adhere to all safety protocols, to provide physical therapy and personal training sessions in the comfort of clients’ homes, gyms, or offices. The way my online fitness coaching is set up, I can create a custom training program, complete with video instructions, in-app messaging, and tracking features to measure progress and ensure accountability because I see everything my clients are doing.
Several clients prefer this because they can complete their workout at their convenience that day instead of waiting for when I’m available, yet still feel like I’m making sure they do it. When it comes to the physical therapy services offered, there’s not really a complex case I haven’t seen and been able to improve. I tend to see more neck, back, and shoulder issues than anything else, with the knee being runner-up. I am very thorough in my physical therapy evaluations and am able to catch what prior attempts at treatment have missed, due to the one-on-one nature of the sessions, which you won’t find at another big chain clinic. I’m known for being able to get people in shape without getting hurt. Most of my clients stopped exercising how they wanted at some point because of an injury but never felt like they could start back up again. We focus on getting you back in shape while taking careful consideration of your injury history, personal goals, equipment availability, schedule, lifestyle habits that may aid or limit you, etc. Where other physical therapy clinics tell you to stop exercising or lifting weights, we tell you that you can and show you how. Where other personal trainers tell you they aren’t comfortable training someone with an injury or history of one, we say yes and show you how. This is so much more than what you thought of physical therapy or personal training before. I’m most proud of starting a new brand this summer in the form of a podcast called “Becoming a Better Man.” It’s been really exciting and freeing to be more open and authentic in the message I put out based on my experiences in fitness, life, love, etc.
In a short time, it’s reached guys from around the world who want to show up at a higher level regarding their health, careers, and relationships. I want the readers to know that my brand is a premium experience with a special blend of health coaching, personal training, and pain-relief that is centered around client convenience. Services can be offered online or in-person, where we bring the experience to them. We’re able to do more than what they would find with any other mobile personal trainer in terms of experience and results, and the same goes for physical therapy. My clients always express their frustration with going to big-box PT clinics that are packed with patients, they never know exactly how much it’ll cost until several weeks later, and they hardly even see their Dr. for each session. We are fully transparent with our clients in terms of up-front cost with no surprises and each session is theirs and no one else’s.
