Check Out CJ Fowler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pastor CJ Fowler.

Hi Pastor CJ, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sure! So, I initially got my start into ministry under the tutelage, formation, and instruction under my parents–the late Pastor Willie L. Fowler Jr. and Mrs. Mae Helen Fowler. Their love and compassion for humanity served as my initial example and stirred my passion to seek to serve humanity as well. However, I had my own unique process of acknowledging and actualizing my call that took me on a journey of self-discovery. Through many challenging pitfalls (both public and private) I emerged–humbled that God would choose me. I matriculated through school and graduate this Spring with my M.A. in Christian Ministries from United Theologial Seminary. I’ve been in public ministry for the past 12 years.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Far from smooth. Often, people have the misnomer or thought process that would suggest because I grew up in a household where my parents were in ministry that my journey, evolution, and process was smooth and without struggles, challenges, or turbulence. However, my journey of becoming has been filled with a myriad of difficulties, dark moments, disappointments, and failures. One of the defining moments in my adolescent period that changed my life forever was losing my mother to cancer at 9 years old. Retrospectively, that one transition changed my life forever. That event left me emotionally, relationally, and spiritually scarred. The trauma of my 9-year-old self trying to rationalize my faith with this reality was extremely difficult. I went into a dark place that led to many of my poor decisions, erratic behavior, and angry disposition. However, through therapy, time, prayer, and community–I’ve been able to overcome.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Occupationally, I consider myself to be a versatile professional with a wealth of experience in both operational and account management. I’m known for my exceptional ability to solve complex, analytical, budgetary concerns which have earned me multiple promotions and commendations.

Vocationally, I’m a communicator. I carry a message of inspiration and hope that transcends racial, political, and denominational barriers and backgrounds. I travel the country, informing, inspiring, and impacting the masses with the gospel of grace and life transformation in Christ.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing people realize and actualize their life purpose and live full lives!
