Hi Asia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Asia Marie Flowers. I was born in Los Angeles. I came to Tampa when I was just ten years old. Due to my Mother’s and Fathers drug addiction. I’ve always dreamed of being a commercial/beauty model. But battled a lot as a teen because my Grandmother in poverty raised me. In May 2019, I launched my own cosmetic line called Flowers Cosmetics in hopes of building confidence in all women across the world. Still modeling and running my full business time and just trying to get my name out in the beauty industry and tell my story.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were a lot of struggles growing up and not knowing my Mother or Father. Not having that typical support in school or with the dreams I had. I remember vividly being homeless with my Grandmother and younger sister and looking for places to sleep on the street and growing up not celebrating Holidays such as Christmas and Birthdays. My Grandmother couldn’t afford to pay the tuition for my modeling classes. We couldn’t afford to take trips across the world. We lived in the projects witnessing a lot of things we shouldn’t think of.

Flowers Cosmetics is a cosmetic line designed to make all women blossom. A flower doesn’t compete with the flower next to it. It just blooms with lipstick and lip-gloss being the first products. We’ve recently expanded our brand with lip pencils, eyeshadows and make up bags are the way! I’m most proud of being a black-owned business making women like myself feel beautiful. We’re all beautiful in different shapes, sizes, and complexions. We’re always creating sales, giveaways and posting our flower girls who love our products!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think the people who truly believed in my brands such as my best friend and my first cousin. Them knowing that I come from nothing but still so giving pushed me. I’ve always worn different color lipsticks, so besides modeling, it’s always been my passion!
