There was a week during April a few years ago where it was raining all day for a week straight. At this time, Ross had his German Shepherd dog, Hobbes, as an eight month old puppy and they were going stir crazy stuck inside. Ross tried to Google indoor dog parks, but to no avail. He decided there needed to be a place where dogs could run freely inside safe from the Florida heat and rain. So he called up his buddy, Patrick, and pitched him the idea. After some more collaboration, the idea evolved into, “What do people love just as much as dogs? Beer!” So they decided to combine the concepts. The final product being a fully air-conditioned indoor, outdoor dog park and bar. The entire facility is off leash so the dogs may run freely while their owners enjoy a refreshing drink.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been an interesting road! We were slated to open at the end of April 2020, but then the global pandemic hit. We were forced to delay our opening and make changes to adapt to the current climate. Luckily, many of the safety and sanitization features other businesses were having to change to, we had already incorporated many of them in our original plan due to having dogs everywhere. We persevered through it all and have been open for a few months now. We have really seen a strong response from the community in support of us growing. We hope to continue serving our community one pup at a time!
