Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Rhodes.
Hi Michelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As far back as I could remember, I have always wanted to become a Nurse, as my mother spent many years and nights working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Seeing her care for others pricked my heart in a special way. Then there is my father, whom I remember being an entrepreneur as an Architectural assistant. He would attend meetings, to prepare drawings, create schedules and reports, undertake site visits for his own clients. I loved that freedom he seemed to have. Combined them together and here I am a Nurse of 25 years turned Entrepreneur. I help other Nurses startup their businesses, as well as recently launched a wellness media company that holds a magazine, podcasts, and upcoming video geared toward health equity and black wellness topics.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh my it’s been hard; I will not lie. There is nothing about entrepreneurship that is easy, but it is deeply gratifying. 8 books, hundreds coached, and international speaking- I continue to stand and grow into my element. I feel as though I thrive in this purpose and I have even more on the horizon that is coming forth.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Tampa! Yes, I love Tampa! Originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, I am happy to have settled down in Tampa Bay. I love everything from the beaches to the food (seafood especially), to our thriving entrepreneurial community. We are excited to get into position to become the next best city for startups. (imo)
