Rising Stars: Meet Angibeth Arboleda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angibeth Arboleda. 

Hi Angibeth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my business in 2017 when I was 16 years old at the time. My grandma previously had a lot of jewelry she collected ever since I was a kid. She was one of the biggest influences in my life. She sadly passed away in 2017 around July. I was devastated, she knew how much I loved playing with her jewelry when I was little, so she told my dad the day she was in the hospital to make sure I keep all of her jewelry. 

I was confused on what to feel about all of the jewelry, a lot of it was a lot more older pieces in her collection. I was overwhelmed with all of the jewelry. I was mourning & I would catch myself admiring the jewelry to remember her by. A lot of the jewelry she had was broken, I wanted to fix it for her, so I would when I would catch myself looking through the boxes & boxes of jewelry. 

I began repairing jewelry & making new jewelry out of older pieces. From there I was coming up with more & more ideas of pieces to create. I slowly learned I genuinely learned I loved making jewelry. Till one day I decided to go to Michaels & get my own materials. I slowly taught myself techniques as I went. it became very popular in my high school. A lot of my high school classmates would ask me if they could buy the jewelry I was making. I enjoyed making jewelry so I had no problem making some fun pieces for my friends. It became a small business as the years kept going. Senior year of high school I had been shipping worldwide, I was so grateful & definitely believe my business is a gift from my grandmother 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a first-generation. College & small business can be exhausting. Managing both is extremely time-consuming. I learned through multiple mistakes along the way. But I am slowly getting the hang of it with balance 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Solmarvida is based off jewelry pieces I make, most out of crystals. I’m known for my crystal jewelry & through my crystal shop. I put a lot of time into every piece I make, with love & dedication. 

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating makes me extremely happy. Art is something so beautiful and there is a lot of meaning in each piece of art. I’m so grateful & happy to be able to create freely.
