Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Nauyokas.
Hi Kelly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My father owned his own business and I always aspired to follow in his footsteps. I have a BA degree in business management following my four years in the United States Marines. I own two businesses, am a professional bodybuilder and I am a health and wellness coach for over 20 years.
I also own Kelly Lynn Artistry, a permanent makeup artist for three years now. I enjoy both of the industries I am in because I get to better people’s lives and help with people’s self-esteem. Both are highly rewarding. I started as a trainer, and always have been an artist. I have definitely had many years of struggling to get clients, but now I work based on word of mouth. I strive to give my clients the best service in both fields.
I am in the business of aesthetics overall, so I cover both sides of beauty to create symmetry. Both the body and the face. My eye works towards creating the most aesthetically pleasing result for my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has not always been smooth. I was a struggling trainer in my twenties and had no idea how to market myself correctly. I also had a hard time collecting money. It used to be hard for me to ask for a sale. As the years have gone on, my ability to trust myself and my skills is the most improved factor of my success, and knowing my worth is what separates me from the younger version of myself.
Continuing education, working on individual skills, and experience in my fields give me confidence in my ability and make me feel like I belong in my position now more than ever.
I have been broke before and it would paralyze me. I know now how to get business rolling when times get tough.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in aesthetics. As far as my work in permanent makeup, I perform to the client’s standard and want them to feel as beautiful with new and improved brows, lips, eyeliner, or scar camouflage.
I take the time to ask my clients what they want and we go from there. I like to provide a natural beauty enhancement to their face and features and I think that sets me apart.
I also try to provide a comfortable environment.
As a coach and fitness professional, I feel I give them individual attention and comfort through their weight loss/muscle-building journey. I have mastered the ability to help positively coach them into success with positive affirmations and continuous reminders of what they have achieved with their physique.
What does success mean to you?
Success is not primarily monetary. Success starts with passion and it exudes through your work performance. I feel that any monetary value comes with a confident and consistent approach to your craft.
Success is the feeling that you made something with an idea and have followed through. An idea is a thought, but it takes action to make it come alive and become a real and tangible thing.
