Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Blasco.
Hi Michael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started when someone wanted to do a chili cook-off at our church. After a brief conversation about doing something fun and community-oriented, the idea of throwing a food truck rally came to light. Then the first food truck event in Tampa happened on that September day in 2011. The rest, you could say, is history, but a whole lot of things happened between then and now.
A few things that are notable we:
Delivered 26,000 hot meals directly to seniors front doors over a six month period in 2020 that were staying at home to be safe.
Have fed 5,000 people in 35 minutes.
Generate millions of dollars a year in revenue for local food trucks.
Started a Food Truck Manufacturing Company in 2017 called Florida Food Truck Builders that has now split off and is self-sustaining to help keep local food trucks on the road and operational.
Have helped hundreds of people start food trucks with our bi-monthly how-to start a food truck seminar.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Some of the best and worst times blend together. Learning the everyday struggles of food truck owners over the years has been a huge help in assisting them when possible. We want every truck we work with to succeed and learning and growing with them has been a big part of the journey.
Revamping what we can do better as a business for clients and food trucks has been a roller coaster. Our role in the middle of a client and food truck owner is unique, each wants the best from the other, it’s our job to make everyone as happy as possible. When we have the opportunity to make everyone happy, it’s extremely rewarding and a lot of fun!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tampa Bay Food Trucks is a booking agency for food trucks. We plan private parties and events with food trucks and our mobile DJ trucks. At times its just one truck, others it’s 20! We schedule trucks for retail sales at corporate locations, places of worship, schools, breweries and we throw food truck rallies.
People use us because we know the best food for their party or recurring location and we make it easy to use food trucks. We’ve eaten from every truck in our network and we know each owner on a personal level. For food and music, we’ve got you covered!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Be open to things outside your comfort zone, you never know when you’ll be approached with a unique opportunity that could save your company. Lean on people you trust, they’ll come through for you. They’ll go above and beyond and even surprise themselves with what they’re capable of.
