Today we’d like to introduce you to Tosin Somade.
Hi Tosin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for serving others started long before I became a hairstylist. I was raised in a hardworking Nigerian household by parents who are entrepreneurs in the healthcare industry. Watching them care for people with compassion, dedication, and excellence shaped who I am today. From as early as 8 years old, I knew I loved helping others and making people feel valued, cared for, and seen.
I always knew I wanted a career centered around service. I pursued higher education, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and my Master’s degree in Computer Engineering because I believed I could make an impact through healthcare and technology. I envisioned myself serving others behind the scenes in a traditional professional setting, but life led me toward a different path one where I could serve people through personal connection and transformation.
Through my journey in the beauty industry, I discovered that my gift for caring for others was deeply connected to helping people feel confident and empowered. I realized hair is more than just a style; it is connected to identity, self-confidence, and overall well-being.
As I built my career, I developed a passion for creating luxury hair care experiences through advanced education, professional product knowledge, and customized treatments designed around each client’s unique needs. My own experiences with inconsistent salon care and searching for products that truly aligned with my lifestyle, hair goals, and natural hair journey inspired me to create a higher standard of care for my clients.
Over the years, while working with both women and men, I noticed a greater need beyond styling. Many clients were struggling with hair thinning, postpartum shedding, hormonal changes, scalp concerns, and simply not having the foundational knowledge to properly care for their hair at home. The COVID-19 pandemic was also an eye-opening moment for many people as they experienced the challenges of maintaining their hair without regular salon access. I wanted to understand the science behind these concerns and provide more comprehensive solutions, which led me to pursue advanced education in trichology and hair restoration.
Today, I am a Master Licensed Cosmetologist, Licensed Trichologist, and Certified Hair Loss Practitioner with over 19 years of experience in the beauty industry. As the owner of Tosin Elizebeth Hair Salon, I specialize in luxury natural hair care services. All things natural hair from wash & go’s, intricate twist -updo’s, silk presses, microlocs, scalp restoration, and evidence-based hair loss solutions. I combine my cosmetology expertise, trichology education, and knowledge of professional hair products to create personalized experiences that help clients achieve healthier hair from the scalp up.
Looking back, every part of my journey my Nigerian upbringing, my education, my passion for serving others, and my dedication to healthy hair has prepared me for this purpose. For me, it has always been bigger than hair. It is about creating a luxury experience, educating and empowering clients, restoring confidence, and helping every person who sits in my chair feel cared for inside and out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was choosing a path that was different from what my parents envisioned for me. Coming from a hardworking Nigerian household, my parents placed a strong emphasis on higher education and raised my sisters and me to pursue careers in healthcare, law, or entrepreneurship fields they believed would provide stability and financial security.
When I chose to pursue cosmetology and build a career in hair, they didn’t immediately see it as a serious profession. I had to prove that this was more than a passion it was a business, a craft, and a way to truly serve others.
Through years of dedication, continuing my education, building my clientele, and investing in my skills, I was able to turn my vision into a thriving brand.
Today, seeing my work recognized, my name reaching people beyond my local community, being featured internationally, and seeing my brand grow in ways I once only dreamed about has been incredibly humbling. The road has required patience, resilience, and faith, but every challenge helped shape me into the entrepreneur and hair care professional I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’m an outspoken, determined, and creative woman who has always known who I am and what I want to build. As an outgoing introvert, I thrive on meaningful connection with my family, children, church community, and the people around me while also protecting the quiet time I need to recharge.
Service has always been at the center of my life, whether volunteering at hospitals, supporting my church, or finding small ways to brighten someone’s day. At home, I express my creativity through cooking, clean and organic DIY projects, spa experiences, and making memories with my two kids.
I love experiences that bring people together, from local events and Nigerian parties to comedy, reality TV, and action films with strong female leads. Though I’ve never been much of an athlete, I enjoy staying active, positive, and surrounded by good energy. Today, those same values creativity, family, service, and confidence guide my work as an entrepreneur, hair care professional, and advocate for helping others feel their best.
