Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Wollett.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a very musical home. My parents led worship at church, my brother and I sang at open mics around our hometown, and I was always involved in school musicals, talent shows, and singing the National Anthem at sporting events. Music was always a huge part of my life.
I first attended the University of West Florida for musical theatre, thinking that was the best way to pursue music while getting an education. I later transferred to Belmont University in Nashville, where I earned my degree in Music Business and really began developing my craft as a songwriter and artist.
After college, I worked on the business side of the industry while continuing to pursue my own music. Since then, I’ve traveled across the country performing and have opened for artists including Tanya Tucker, Carly Pearce, Maddie & Tae, Scotty McCreery, and even Jay Leno. I’ve also been honored with Female Artist of the Year at the Trop Rock Music Awards and received nominations for several of my songs.
Over the years, I’ve really found my identity as an artist, blending my country roots with the coastal Florida lifestyle I grew up around. Now, as a mom, songwriter, and independent artist, I’m continuing to write, release music, and chase the same dream I’ve had since those early hometown stages.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, but I think that’s part of what has shaped me most as an artist. The music industry comes with a lot of highs and lows, especially as an independent artist. I’ve worked jobs on the business side of music while pursuing my own career, played plenty of small stages before getting the opportunity to open for bigger artists, and learned that success rarely happens in a straight line.
There have been moments of wondering what the next step should be, but I’ve always kept coming back to music. Now, balancing being a new mom with continuing to write, release music, and perform has brought a whole new season of challenges and inspiration. I think the road has taught me to keep evolving, stay true to who I am, and keep going even when the path looks different than I originally imagined.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a country singer-songwriter with a sound that blends Nashville country with the laid-back coastal lifestyle I grew up around in Florida. A lot of people know me for songs like “Saltwater Gypsy,” “Better on a Beach,” and “Bottle It Up,” and that coastal-country feel has really become a big part of who I am as an artist.
I’m most proud that I’ve built my career independently—from writing and releasing my own music to touring, creating my brand, and opening for some incredible artists along the way. I’ve also had my music featured on CMT and The Country Network and have been fortunate to receive several independent music awards and nominations.
What sets me apart is that my music and my brand really reflect my life. It’s country music with a little saltwater in it—songs about chasing dreams, relationships, home, and now motherhood, all through the lens of someone who grew up on the Florida coast. I’ve never wanted to fit perfectly into one box. I’ve just wanted to create something that feels authentically me.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success is being able to build a life around what I love, with the people I love, while staying true to who I am. Even more so now, it’s about sharing stories and connecting with people. I want to continue evolving as an artist while also growing as a person, in hopes that I can inspire someone else to keep going too.
