Today we’d like to introduce you to Torrie Jasuwan.
Hi Torrie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in St. Pete and then went to college at UNF and USF for criminology. Then I lived in NYC for a few years and then Palm Beach and worked as a celebrity and high end matchmaker until moving back to St. Pete. I’ve worked in real estate development, with a focus on trailer parks and motels, and as a Broker-Principal at Luxe Properties International since 2015. I also founded Babycycle Diaper Bank, a non-profit serving children in need of diapers, and basic necessities in 2012. I worked in Tallahassee and lobbied with Baby2Baby and The National Diaper Bank Network to pass Bill 7063 to eradicate the tax on diapers- it passed in 2023 and was one of my biggest achievements. I am married to my husband, Albert, who owns JAS Builders, a house lifting and contracting company and is also a St. Pete local- we actually grew up down the street from each other! We have two beautiful children, Tiernan a soon to be Freshman at Northside Christian with a passion for tennis, and Pearson, a rising 8th grader who will train full time at baseball academy next year while completing FLVS.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life has been a wild ride of twists and turns for me. I moved alot growing up and was forced to constantly meet new people and learn to fit in- this has made me be able to talk to and get along with most anyone. I truly believe that people will like you if you like them first and I’ve based my life on that theory. I tend to overshare and I think that’s part of how I connect to friends, clients and the community I serve- we can all relate to a hard time, challenge or moment of humility in someone else’s life- those moments are what make us all human.
I’ve had more failures that most in business, and I think that’s a big part of how I’ve gotten to where I am. We can’t move forward without learning something from our mistakes, It’s ok to fail- as long we learn, let go and move forward.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
www.Babycyclefl.org has a ton of info on what we do, the 30 agencies we serve and why we do it. I started Babycycle because I didn’t want any child not to have the oppurtunity to break the cycle of poverty.
Luxe Properties sells residential and commercial properties, ranging from condos to trailer parks and motels.
I am most proud of devoting my life to making the futures of Pinellas County children brighter by helping them break the cycle of poverty,
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My husband and I are probably some of the biggest risk takers I have ever met! Both of us have the mindset that you can’t succeed if you don’t try. I always know when I have a major business decesion that I know will work and I ask my husband he will say do it- we will figure the rest out later. And we always figure the rest out later!
