I built your career in healthcare first, not aesthetics.
With over 30 years of experience in nursing and a strong foundation in women’s health, I’ve always been driven by a passion for evidence-based care. This approach has been the cornerstone of my career, and I’ve carried it with me as I transitioned into the field of advanced aesthetics. As the founder of Essential Wellness Works, my goal is to merge medical expertise with personalized skincare, creating customized treatment plans that cater to each client’s distinct needs, rather than simply following the latest fads. My mission is multifaceted: to educate my clients, empower them with knowledge, and deliver tangible results through a science-backed, client-centered approach to care. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. Like most entrepreneurs, I quickly learned that passion is only the first step. I had to earn new certifications, build trust in a crowded market, and teach myself marketing, branding, web design, and SEO—skills you just don’t learn in nursing school. There were definitely moments of self-doubt, heavy financial investments, and the exhausting juggle of keeping a full-time job while building a business from the ground up. But every single obstacle just reminded me why I started. My goal has always been to give clients honest, science-backed skincare rather than chasing the latest trends. Facing those challenges head-on made me a sharper clinician, a smarter business owner, and a better educator. It shaped Essential Wellness Works into a brand rooted in integrity, real expertise, and genuine care.

I specialize in a range of services, including corrective skincare, sugaring hair removal, microchanneling, permanent makeup removal, scar and stretch mark revision, and skin rejuvenation. Instead of jumping on the latest beauty trends, I prioritize understanding the science of skin and crafting treatment plans tailored to each client’s individual concerns and aspirations.
What truly fills me with pride is the trust my clients place in me. Many come to me after trying numerous products or treatments that just didn’t work for them. As a Registered Nurse and licensed esthetician, I make it a point to educate my clients, sharing the reasoning behind every recommendation and empowering them to make informed choices about their skin.
What really sets me apart is the blend of clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion. My nursing background shapes everything I do, from upholding the highest safety standards to creating personalized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based practices. I firmly believe that skincare isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach, nor should it be about chasing the latest viral trend. My mission is to help every client feel confident in their skin by offering honest advice, effective treatments, and care that’s as personalized as it is results-oriented.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
One of the most important lessons I’ve picked up along the way is the value of simplicity. When you’re just starting out, it’s tempting to think you need every shiny new gadget, treatment, or trendy product to make it big. But honestly, that’s not the case. Instead, concentrate on perfecting a handful of services, delivering amazing results, and crafting a fantastic experience for your clients. Your reputation will flourish much more quickly through consistency than by constantly chasing after the latest craze.
I also wish I had realized earlier that building a business is more of a marathon than a sprint. Prioritize investing in your education before splurging on equipment, and focus on nurturing relationships before diving into flashy marketing tactics. Understand the science behind what you provide so you can confidently articulate why it works, rather than just saying it’s popular. Trends may come and go, but knowledge, integrity, and top-notch customer service are timeless.
