Today we’d like to introduce you to Naomi Pareja.
Hi Naomi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into healing work started in 2007 when I became a licensed massage therapist. I was drawn to the body as a place where people carry so much — stress, grief, tension they don’t even have words for — and I wanted to help people find relief from that. Over the years I added modality after modality, always following what felt most true: breathwork, shamanic training, sound and vibrational healing. Each layer deepened my understanding of how the nervous system holds our stories, and how the body needs more than just physical touch to really let go.
Over time I also expanded into retreat facilitation, ceremony, and community work — holding space in settings ranging from intimate one-on-one sessions to large group experiences. That breadth taught me a lot about what I was actually here to offer at the core. When I stripped everything back, what remained was this: helping people find stillness. Not forcing it, not performing it — just creating the conditions for the nervous system to remember it already knows how to rest.
That’s what Stillpoint Sound Healing is. It’s the most honest version of everything I’ve built over nearly 20 years. The name says it all — that quiet place between the noise, where real healing happens.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. I think anyone who tells you their healing practice just unfolded gracefully is either very lucky or not being fully honest.
The hardest parts weren’t the logistics — they were the identity stuff. When you build a public-facing spiritual practice, there’s a version of yourself that you put out into the world, and over time you can lose track of where the persona ends and you begin. I spent years showing up for everyone else’s transformation while quietly doing my own, often without much acknowledgment that the two were happening simultaneously. Burnout in healing work is real, and it’s particularly disorienting because you’re supposed to be the one who knows how to regulate.
There was also the practical reality of running a small business in wellness — the financial unpredictability, the emotional labor, the way the industry can commodify the very thing you’re trying to protect. Health was another piece. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and I learned that the hard way — pushing through my own physical and emotional depletion while still holding space for others. Sitting with that contradiction was uncomfortable and ultimately one of the most clarifying experiences I’ve had. It deepened my understanding of the nervous system in a way that no training could — because I lived it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Stillpoint Sound Healing. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Stillpoint Sound Healing offers a range of experiences designed to meet people wherever they are — from private one-on-one sessions to group sound baths, breathwork, ceremony, and retreat facilitation. The thread running through all of it is the same: creating the conditions for the nervous system to downregulate, so the body can do what it already knows how to do.
What sets this work apart is the depth behind it. This isn’t ambient music and a yoga mat. I bring nearly 20 years of training across massage therapy, somatic work, sound and vibrational healing, breathwork facilitation, and ceremonial practice — and I draw on all of it, even in a single session. The science of how sound interacts with the nervous system is real and well-documented, and I take that seriously. At the same time, I hold space for the parts of this work that can’t be fully explained — the moments of release, insight, or profound rest that people carry with them long after they leave.
On the retreat side, I work with facilitators and organizations as a guest presenter, bringing sound healing and breathwork into larger wellness experiences. That work has taken me across the country and internationally, and it’s some of the most meaningful I do.
What I’m most proud of is that people feel the difference. Not just relaxed — genuinely different. Less reactive, more grounded, more themselves. That’s the Stillpoint effect, and it’s what keeps people coming back.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think about risk less as a personality trait and more as a relationship with uncertainty. Some people avoid it, some people chase it — I’ve learned to sit with it, which feels like the more honest version of being a risk-taker.
The biggest risk I’ve taken professionally was building a somatic and nervous system-focused practice in Lakeland. This is a deeply traditional community, and the work I do — sound healing, breathwork, nervous system regulation — isn’t always an easy sell here. There were years where I was ahead of the curve in ways that felt lonely. Watching mainstream wellness slowly catch up to what I’d been offering all along has been validating, but getting there required a lot of staying power when the market wasn’t quite ready.
There’s also been the risk of operating as a values-driven business in a political climate — locally and nationally — that hasn’t always made that easy. Holding space for trauma-informed, body-based healing work in a time when bodies and autonomy are politically contested takes a kind of quiet courage that doesn’t always get named as risk-taking, but it is.
And right now I’m in another transition — consciously evolving what Stillpoint looks like as I grow. That’s its own kind of risk: choosing to refine rather than expand, to go deeper rather than broader, even when the pressure is always to do more. I’ve learned that the most meaningful risks aren’t always the dramatic ones. Sometimes the real risk is staying true to what the work is actually meant to be.
