Meet Cassie Tucker of CAMM Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Tucker.

Cassie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story started in college at the University of South Florida, where I studied Public Relations. I chose that degree because I honestly wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but I knew that PR sounded like the direction I eventually wanted to go. Throughout college, I volunteered at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, did internships with tech startups and completed the College Program through The Walt Disney Company.

When I first started at Disney, my ultimate goal was to work my way up into a marketing/PR role with the company. In my role, I was tasked with working in the parks, face-to-face with guests, helping them pick out merchandise to take home with them. This role was crucial and pivotal in my career. I learned how to create a memory-making experience for people, how to provide excellent services and how to sell.

At the end of my internship with Disney, I attempted to get a professional marketing role with the company, but I was not successful. I knew there was something else out there for me, so I headed back to Tampa, graduated and worked for two large restaurant groups (Datz and Ciccio Restaurant Group), refining my marketing, PR, social media and event planning skills.

Fast forward a few years later, and I was offered a job at a social media agency in NYC. I took it and spent over a year in the Big Apple, learning what it was like to work for an agency (vs. In-house, which was all I had known). At the end of my time in NYC, I started to feel like there was something bigger out there for me. I eventually moved back to Tampa for some time after accepting a marketing director role for Datz Restaurant Group, a previous company that I had worked for. This role was huge for me. I managed seven brands and a team of 4. This role was scary for me but was pushing me closer and closer to my new goal: to own a business of my own.

After several months with the company, it was time. I quit my 9-5 and began building my personal social media agency. I wanted to build a better agency – dedicated to making magic for my clients and their customers, just like I did at Disney. I wanted to craft my strategies around Storytelling, which I learned was the #1 way to reel consumers in and sell products.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As I’ve grown my business throughout COVID-19, I’ve struggled with losing a lot of business, but we’ve had to get creative with selling and learning how to open new streams of income. I think COVID-19 has been a huge learning lesson for us and has pushed us to get out of our comfort zone. It has also taught us to work “slim,” as I like to call it. We eliminated processes and software that was not needed. Doing so saved us a lot of time and money, making us more efficient in our work.

As you know, we’re big fans of CAMM Media. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I started a business with my now-husband during COVID-19 called CAMM Media. What sets us apart is that we don’t just want our clients to be another number to us. We want to take the time to build relationships with them and really get to know how to help them reach their business goals. We’ve taken key customer service and “magic making” principles I’ve learned from the hospitality industry and applied them to our business and the content we create for our clients.

At CAMM Media, we specialize in social media strategy, photography, videography, drone work and general marketing/PR. We take a different approach to the content we create for our clients. To us, it’s not advertising. It’s storytelling and adding value which works in selling products. That’s at the forefront of our business.

I’m so proud that we’ve built a sustainable business in the midst of the pandemic. We’ve hit some incredible business goals during a very financially trying time. We have secured large brands and developed very great work with just a two-person team.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m a huge book and podcast fan. I’m currently reading “Building a Storybrand” by Donald Miller. I’m a big, long-time fan of his podcast, “Business Made Simple.” It’s super cool to say that the former executive vice president of Walt Disney World is one of my clients. I’m a huge fan of his podcast, “Creating Disney Magic.” On the Disney topic, Bob Iger (the former CEO of Disney) wrote a book a few years ago called “The Ride of a Lifetime” that is amazing.
