Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittaney Dunigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittaney Dunigan.

Hi Brittaney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my journey in the beauty industry about six years ago in Columbus, where spray tanning was just a side hustle for me. At the time, I was working multiple jobs and trying to figure out what I truly wanted to build for my future. What began as a small way to earn extra income quickly turned into something I was deeply passionate about.

A huge turning point for me was losing my aunt to skin cancer. That experience shifted my perspective and gave me a deeper purpose behind what I do. I realized I could help people feel confident and beautiful in a safer way, without the risks of sun exposure. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to grow something meaningful in this industry.

In 2020, I took a leap of faith and moved to Saint pete during COVID. Starting over in a new state was challenging, but I stayed consistent, worked hard, and focused on creating an experience that truly stood out, one that made clients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident. For me it’s more than just a service. It’s about the experience and how you make people feel and I truly enjoyed making people feel better..

Over time, that consistency paid off. What started as a one-woman operation has grown into a multi-location business with an incredible team. Today, we offer a full range of services from custom spray tanning to teeth whitening, brows, lashes, and more and we’ve built a brand known for both results and experience.

Beyond the services, I’ve found so much fulfillment in building a team and helping others grow. Creating opportunities, mentoring staff, and watching them succeed has become just as rewarding as the business itself.

Looking back, the journey hasn’t been easy,I’ve faced setbacks, challenges, and moments where I had to rebuild multiple times but every step shaped the business and the person I am today. My “why” has always stayed the same: to help people feel confident in their own skin and to build something that creates lasting impact, not just for clients, but for my team as well and to honor my aunt in a way that I know best.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all,it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, that’s a big part of what shaped both me and the business.

Early on, I was juggling multiple jobs just to stay afloat while trying to grow something on the side. There were long days, late nights, and a lot of uncertainty about whether it would actually turn into something sustainable.

I left my career as a financial manager to do spray tanning full time and Covid hit 2 months later.

When I moved to Tampa in 2020, it was a huge risk. It was during COVID, I was starting over in a brand-new city without an established client base, and I had to rebuild everything from scratch. There were moments where business was slow, money was tight, and I questioned if I made the right decision.

I’ve had my domain bought by competitors, social media platforms hacked, an employee building a spray tanning full business while working from me and taking everything I’ve worked hard for, struggles with leases because not many places will lease to small business owners and so much more.

On top of that, I’ve gone through some really difficult personal and professional challenges things like being falsely accused, dealing with legal battles from an ex boyfriend and losing almost everything at one point. That was probably one of the lowest moments for me, having to rebuild not just the business, but my life. It forced me to grow thicker skin, stay grounded in my values, and lean heavily on faith, family, and the people who truly supported me. Then into another relationship that turned very unhealthy and abusive.

As the business grew, the challenges didn’t go away, they just changed. Managing a team, opening multiple locations, maintaining consistency, and making tough leadership decisions has been a learning experience every step of the way. There’s pressure that comes with being responsible for other people’s livelihoods, and I’ve had to learn how to balance being supportive while also holding high standards.

But every struggle taught me something about resilience, about leadership, and about staying consistent even when things feel uncertain. Looking back, I wouldn’t change those challenges because they’re the reason the business is as strong as it is today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I own and operate a multi-location beauty business in the Tampa Bay area, where we specialize in luxury, custom spray tanning along with teeth whitening, brows, lashes, and permanent jewelry. While we offer a range of services, our core focus and what we’re most known for is our custom spray tanning.

What really sets us apart is that nothing we do is “one size fits all.” Every spray tan is fully customized based on the client’s skin tone, undertones, lifestyle, and desired result. We’ve developed our own mixing techniques and focus heavily on education, both for our clients and our team, so every person who walks in feels confident, comfortable, and taken care of from start to finish.

Beyond the technical side, we’ve built our brand around the experience. Cleanliness, professionalism, communication, and attention to detail are non-negotiables for us. From the consultation to aftercare, we walk clients through every step so they not only love their results, but they understand how to maintain them. That level of care is a big reason why we’ve built such a loyal client base and consistently receive strong feedback.

I’m also really passionate about the business side of the industry. I’ve grown from a solo artist into a multi-location owner with a team of nearly 20, and I’ve put a huge emphasis on creating structure training systems, growth opportunities, and a culture where people feel supported but also challenged to be their best. Mentorship and leadership have become a big part of what I do day to day.

What I’m most proud of is honestly two things:
First, the impact we’ve had on our clients helping people feel confident in their own skin, especially those who may be dealing with insecurities or big life events like weddings, photos, or milestones.

And second, the team we’ve built. Watching employees come in with little experience and grow into confident, successful artists and leaders is incredibly rewarding.

At the end of the day, what sets us apart is that we don’t just focus on the service , we focus on the person. The results matter, but the experience, the education, and the consistency are what truly make the difference.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There are so many things that make me happy and bring me joy when it comes to the business aspect being able to see clients return because they love the experience that they had with myself for my team tells me I’m doing something right. Seeing their smiles on their face when they have completed their services and the reviews that we get truly uplift myself and my team. We have over 1805 star reviews across all three locations and I think that alone says so much. Being able to provide for as many staff members as I do and their livelihood puts a lot of pressure and weight on me, but to see the business and company succeeding, and knowing that I am helping make their lives better is a feeling that is undescribable, but I can definitely say it is happiness. On a personal level, my husband, my dogs and my friends and family spending quality time with them, making memories watching sunsets going to the Saint Pete pier, and feeding the squirrels and watching the dolphins.
