Today we’d like to introduce you to Rose Honor.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up in Long Island, New York, my mother took me to the Chinese herbalist in NYC-Chinatown. She would brew these really smelly herbs in the kitchen. It was our culture and I got used to it. I was also exposed to western allopathic Doctors as well. I think we did a 50/50 split between Chinese medicine and western allopathic protocols growing up.
I was getting constantly ill as a young adult in my 20’s – I believe due to getting away from Chinese medicine. I remember having chronic Bronchitis for 6 months. It lasted the entire winter, and then some.. I would catch a cold/flu about 2 times a month. As soon as I got over a cold or flu, I would catch another one.. It seemed to me that if someone who was sick just looked at me, I would catch their cold! I had a very suppressed immune system.
Then I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I also suffered from constant Yeast, bacterial, and viral infections. I was tired all the time. Just taking a shower tired me out for many hours.
The western doctors would only prescribe antibiotics, That worsened my chronic candida infection symptoms. They were never able to address my poor diet which was composed of sugar and sweets, and junk food..
I needed to return to my roots of Chinese medicine and I also did more research on incorporating other healing modalities
My journey from sickness to health involved:
Diet Change – I stopped eating the sugary, processed, junk foods, which was very difficult due to their addictive nature! I stopped craving them when I stopped consciously buying those foods. My taste buds changed after a few weeks.
I introduced a diet consisting of healthy fats (stopped seed oils), organic vegetables, beans, some nuts and seeds, animal protein from organic chicken, turkey, beef. Occasional organic fruits. Less carbohydrates.
In addition, I used:
Supplements
Herbs, American & Chinese
Homeopathics – I detoxed from heavy metals and chemicals with Homeopathics.
Whole food supplements and herbs to eliminate yeast, bacteria, viruses, and parasites
Supplements to support sluggish Thyroid and Adrenals
Applied Kinesiology – Muscle testing to determine what supplements, herbs, Homeopathics, and correct treatment modality to apply (There is no guess work of what treatment to use. The body tells us with muscle testing.)
Acupuncture to balance body, mind, and spirit, relieve neck and shoulder pain, and help with sleep
Cupping to help relieve tight, stiff, painful neck, shoulders, and back.
Energy Medicine to help balance energies, reduce pain, clear my head, etc.
NAET – Allergy Elimination technique to eliminate my many allergies to certain foods: wheat, eggs, and chicken, as well as allergies to minerals, magnesium, vitamin C, hormones, certain chemicals, and metals.
As a result, I was able to get back to health using all the treatment modalities mentioned. It was not easy, and sometimes there were setbacks, but I felt I was always moving forward in the right direction.
Seeing my results, I wanted to help others who might be suffering from similar issues.
My personal story inspired me to become an Acupuncture Physician in 2011
.
I studied Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida, graduated with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelors of Professional Health Sciences. Im a member of NCCAOM.
She also received the “Best of Brandon 2014 Silver Award” from a readers’ poll in the Tampa Tribune.
I practiced as a nutritional consultant and patient advocate for over 4 years at a Chiropractic office in Tampa, FL.
Over the years I’ve been able to help thousands of patients find relief from their ailments
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. The struggle of working at a Chiropractic office part time while in Acupuncture school at East West College in Sarasota was rough. My nose was in the books 24/7 for almost 4 years.
I actually quit a decent paying job at JP Morgan Chase in Tampa to go back to school full time and work a part time job for a chiropractor in 2008.
I have a bachelors in Business from SUNY at Old Westbury, and going back to school again to receive a masters & bachelors as a health professional was daunting.

I do hope we have more wholistic healers available, including Acupuncturists. People need to have a choice, Healing and helping people involves a village. “It takes a Village” Integrative medicine should be where we’re headed. There’s a need for Massage, Chiropractic, PT’s, Homeopathic, Acupuncturist, etc working with Medical Doctors
