Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacy Lain.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After watching my husband battle leukemia not once but twice, the first time with our 4-month-old daughter and the second with three children 3 and under, then walking through my own health challenges, including a six-month-long menstrual cycle that nearly broke me, I found myself on my knees asking the Lord, “What now? I need wisdom to get to the bottom of my health issues.”
That season pushed me to my limits physically, emotionally, and spiritually. But through it, the Lord made something very clear. I was meant to be a part of helping women get healthy and stay healthy. I’ve always had a heart for holistic health, but now it has purpose.
By God’s grace, my husband is healed, and we get to do life together. I don’t take that for granted for a single moment. But I know there are so many other women still in the trenches. They’re suffering, searching, and stuck in unhealthy patterns. Many are being dismissed or misled by a system that often overlooks the deeper root causes of chronic health struggles. These people need real education, practical tools, and hope. That’s what fuels me every single day.
The Lord took my love of research, my years of learning about blood work (leukemia is a blood cancer), and my passion for holistic health, and lit a fire in me to serve other women who are where I once was. Exhausted, overwhelmed, and desperate for answers.
I hold certifications in Functional Medicine Health Coaching, Functional Blood Work, Holistic Health and Nutrition, and more. I’m also working toward becoming a Board Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine, planning to complete my doctorate and board certification exam in early 2026.
Today, I host the Functional Medicine for Christian Women podcast. I’m a mom of three amazing kiddos, an international best-selling author, and when I have a quiet moment to myself, you’ll probably find me reading or doing a homeschool lesson with my kids.
It’s been a journey. But I know without a doubt I’m called to help Christian women take their health into their own hands and feel normal again by getting to the root cause of their health struggles by looking at our bodies the way God designed them to function.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. At one point, as I was battling a six-month-long menstrual cycle with debilitating symptoms, caring for three young children, one of whom has special needs, while my husband was still recovering from a stem cell transplant. And then, the world shut down in 2020. My anxiety was at an all-time high, and the weight of it all felt unbearable. I ended up needing iron infusions that triggered an anaphylactic reaction, which only added to the physical and emotional toll.
Spiritually, I was drained. Physically, I was barely functioning. Mentally, I felt like I was on the edge, trying to hold everything together for my family while quietly falling apart inside. It was the most difficult season of my life, and I had already walked through more than most people my age.
I’ll never forget a phone call I had with my dad while my husband was in the hospital facing liver complications, post-transplant. He reminded me that everything I had walked through up to that point had prepared me for that moment, and that the Lord had been equipping me all along to keep going. That conversation gave me the strength to keep encouraging my husband and to keep showing up for my family.
No, it hasn’t been easy. But I know God is faithful to His Word and truly does work all things together for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28) And He will get the glory through all of this. This verse has become something I cling to, not just as a promise, but as a truth I’ve lived.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Functional Health for Women | Functional Medicine for Christian Women Podcast?
Functional Health for Women is a Biblically rooted functional health practice that helps Christian women in their 20s to 50s take back control of their health. I specialize in helping women who are dealing with hormone imbalances, chronic fatigue, low energy, gut issues, thyroid problems, mood swings, or ongoing symptoms that conventional medicine has overlooked or dismissed. Many of the women I work with have been told their labs are “normal” when they know something is off in their bodies.
I help educate women in order to help them feel like themselves again, using the labs they already have, paired with a personalized approach that aligns with how God designed the body to function. My signature framework walks women through foundational health in the right order, supporting drainage, lowering inflammation, balancing blood sugar, building stress resiliency, and so much more.
What sets my practice apart is the combination of Scripture and science. I believe that true healing starts with honoring the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, and that God designed our bodies to heal themselves when given the right support. My approach is clear, methodical, and rooted in real education. I don’t chase symptoms; I help women get to the root cause and rebuild from the ground up using simple, sustainable lifestyle shifts.
I’m probably best known for helping women feel “normal” again without extreme protocols or expensive functional tests. Women come to me when they’re tired of feeling dismissed, overwhelmed, or like their body is betraying them. I give them the tools to understand their labs, support their systems, and make changes that actually last.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of being a voice of truth and clarity in a very noisy wellness space. My podcast, Functional Medicine for Christian Women, has become a safe place for women to hear truth, learn practical steps, and be reminded that they aren’t broken. That’s what this brand is about: giving women hope, biblical wisdom, and real answers for their health.
I want your readers to know that healing is possible. If you feel like you’ve tried everything and still don’t feel well, you’re not alone. There is a better way. And you don’t have to walk it alone. I’m here to guide women with clarity, compassion, and Christ at the center.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Some of my favorite childhood memories took place either in a gym with a basketball in my hand or at home with my brother and sister, creating all kinds of adventures. One that always makes me smile is the time we got in big trouble for digging holes all over the yard because we decided to make our own nine-hole golf course. We were always building, imagining, and learning through play.
Looking back, I see how much those early experiences shaped me. As a homeschool mom now, I really value the connection between play and learning because I lived it. I had the freedom to explore, be curious, and try new things, and that sparked a lifelong love of learning in me. My best friend teases me that I’m a little obsessed with learning, and she’s probably right, but I’ve always believed it’s a gift. It’s something I want to pass on to my kids.
My dad was a teacher, coach, and principal, and every single morning before school, he would say, “Learn something new every day.” That phrase stuck with me and has truly become a mindset in my life and business. Whether I’m studying functional lab patterns, researching a new healing protocol, or teaching a client about the body, that love for learning is still alive, and I’m grateful for the foundation that started in childhood.
