Conversations with Jackie Stover

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Stover.

Hi Jackie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Im a Native Floridian and I have always had a passion to create beautiful things. I ended up going into the hair industry at 16 and have been doing what I love since then. I had an opportunity to create my own space 4 years ago and I took it. I wanted to create a space where clients love to come and feel good from the moment, they walk in to the moment they leave. In the 4 years we have created an amazing team of Artist and a loyal clientele. At the end of the day it’s about helping others feel great about themselves and that is rewarding. As a stylist and Salon owner I love sharing all the happy times with our clients. After 26 years in this industry, I can’t think of anything else I would want to do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say it was all wonderful and a walk in the park but Nothing worth wild is. Trying to find the right staff is sometimes a challenge but when you get the right puzzle pieces it comes together perfectly. Last year we were hit with back-to-back hurricanes, and my building was flooded twice in 11 days. That was a huge struggle we lost everything on our first floor and had to close down for 7 weeks but we worked day and night to get back up on our feet because we had no choice. I had a team that depended on us. They believed in our vision and that gave me the strength to get up and keep moving forward. We just came up on 1 year since that last storm and we have come out on top.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to create anything from spaces, creating things and doing hair. I’m most proud of my salon space that I created. I love it because it’s different and feels warm when You walk in. I think what makes us different is that I wanted to create a experiences for our guest. I want everyone to feel special, and we do our best to create that for each guest that walks through our doors.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I always step outside the box. I don’t think that any one way is the way to go. I live in the grey area a lot everything is not black and white. Always keep moving forward and never live in the past. A positive mind set is what keeps me going. I tell myself that things that are worth wild do not come easy but if you keep going good things happen
