Today we’d like to introduce you to Orlando Garmos.
Hi Orlando, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Puerto Rico, where family, faith, and perseverance were the foundation of my upbringing. At a young age, my family and I moved to the United States, where I quickly learned the importance of adaptability, discipline, and hard work — qualities that would shape the course of my life.
At 18 years old, I made one of the most defining decisions of my life: I joined the United States Marine Corps. What began as a desire to serve my country evolved into a 16-year journey of leadership, sacrifice, and growth. The Marine Corps instilled in me a relentless commitment to excellence, integrity, and service before self — values that continue to guide everything I do.
After proudly serving for over a decade and a half, I transitioned from military life and discovered my next calling at Moffitt Cancer Center, an organization whose mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer deeply resonated with me. Here, I found purpose in leading operations that directly impact patients, families, and staff — ensuring that every detail, from transportation to parking logistics, supports the incredible work happening within the hospital’s walls.
But my journey didn’t stop there. Fueled by the same drive and determination that guided me through my military career, I decided to take a chance on myself and pursue a lifelong dream — to become an entrepreneur. I founded PrimeAxis Logistics, a transportation and logistics company built on reliability, integrity, and service excellence. What started as an idea has grown into a vision for empowering others, creating opportunity, and redefining standards in the logistics industry.
Every chapter of my life — from the streets of Puerto Rico, to the Marines, to the halls of Moffitt, and now to leading PrimeAxis Logistics — has been driven by a single purpose: to lead with impact, to serve with integrity, and to make a difference wherever I am planted.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all — but every challenge has shaped who I am today.
Transitioning from military life after 16 years in the Marine Corps was one of the hardest adjustments I’ve ever faced. In the service, structure, brotherhood, and purpose are built into everything you do. Leaving that behind meant rediscovering who I was outside of the uniform — finding a new sense of mission and redefining leadership in a civilian world that operates very differently.
There were moments of uncertainty, especially as I learned to navigate new environments, from healthcare operations to entrepreneurship. At Moffitt Cancer Center, I had to adapt quickly — managing complex systems, leading diverse teams, and aligning operational processes to support something much greater than myself: the mission of saving lives. That required patience, humility, and a willingness to keep learning every single day.
Starting PrimeAxis Logistics brought a new set of challenges. There were sleepless nights, financial risks, and countless lessons in perseverance. Building something from the ground up tested not only my business acumen but also my faith and resilience. But through it all, I never lost sight of why I started — to create opportunities, to build something meaningful, and to leave a legacy rooted in service and integrity.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but I’ve learned that growth rarely comes from comfort. Every obstacle — from career transitions to personal challenges — has pushed me to evolve, to stay grounded in purpose, and to lead with the same discipline and heart that began in the Marines.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently serve as the Manager of Parking and Transportation at Moffitt Cancer Center, where I oversee all aspects of parking operations, transportation logistics, and support services across multiple campuses. My primary focus is ensuring that every part of our operation — from patient shuttles to courier routes — runs safely, efficiently, and with compassion. What drives me most is knowing that my team plays a direct role in supporting Moffitt’s mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. Every delivery, every transport, every interaction contributes to something bigger — and that’s what makes the work meaningful.
At the same time, I’m building my own company, PrimeAxis Logistics, a transportation and logistics business founded on the principles of reliability, integrity, and service excellence. PrimeAxis was born from my desire to create something lasting — a company people can always depend on, whether it’s for timely deliveries or trusted partnerships. I’m working to grow it into a brand known for consistency, accountability, and professionalism.
What sets me apart is my foundation of discipline and leadership, forged through 16 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps taught me how to stay calm under pressure, lead by example, and never cut corners — qualities that I carry into both my professional and entrepreneurial endeavors.
I take pride in being both a leader and a builder — someone who doesn’t just manage operations, but creates structure, develops people, and builds systems that last. Whether at Moffitt or through PrimeAxis Logistics, my goal is the same: to lead with purpose, serve with integrity, and deliver excellence every single time.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Absolutely. I’ve always believed that success begins with mindset, discipline, and continuous learning. Books have played a major role in shaping how I think about leadership, business, and personal growth.
Two of my all-time favorites are The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. The Intelligent Investor taught me the importance of patience, long-term thinking, and understanding the fundamentals — not just in finance, but in decision-making as a whole. Rich Dad Poor Dad reshaped how I view money and financial independence, reinforcing the value of creating assets and building a strong financial foundation.
Another book that’s had a major impact on me is The Power of One More by Ed Mylett. It’s a powerful reminder that the difference between average and exceptional often comes down to giving just a little more effort — one more call, one more hour, one more act of faith. That mindset has helped me push through challenges, both in my role at Moffitt Cancer Center and in building PrimeAxis Logistics.
I’m not big on podcasts or blogs, but I believe in applying what I read — taking the principles from great books and turning them into real, measurable actions. For me, that’s what growth is about: learning, applying, and leading by example.
