Brock, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career over 25 years ago as an insurance adjuster—my first real job. It was there that I learned the fundamentals of property, personal injury, and auto insurance, eventually specializing in property claims. In the fall of 2001, while working in the field, I started searching for a rental property and came across a historic duplex in a desirable area that needed significant renovation. As tenants turned over, I systematically updated each unit and the exterior, transforming the property over time.
That experience sparked my passion for identifying undervalued properties—diamonds in the rough. I began seeking out similar opportunities and soon acquired a six-unit multifamily property that required both physical improvements and active management. By applying the same principles—strategic renovations, rent optimization, and operational efficiency—I was able to build substantial equity and long-term value.
In 2013, I made a natural transition into real estate full-time, becoming a Realtor. Real estate felt less like a job and more like a calling—it combined all the skills I had developed through years in insurance, investing, and property management. I enjoyed every part of the process: finding deals, negotiating, financing, renovating, and managing assets.
Since 2019, I’ve owned and operated Brock Doyle Property Group, an independent real estate brokerage focused on residential and commercial sales, property management, and value-add investing.
In 2025, I expanded my business portfolio by launching Waterfront Insurance, an independent property & casualty insurance agency. The goal was to bring my expertise full circle—offering clients comprehensive asset and risk management under one roof. Today, I help clients across Florida protect, grow, and maximize the value of their real estate and business investments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest obstacles and challenges are all within arms reach. I’ve learned in business and in life: who you work with matters. You have to be intentional about who you work for, who you accept as clients, and who you hire as employees, contractors, or professional advisors.
Do your research before committing to any relationship or project, and always trust your gut. It’s far better to walk away from a job, client, or opportunity than to move forward with people who lack integrity, because that will cost your time and money.
Over the years, I’ve realized that many of the most successful people share one key trait—they know how to say no. That wasn’t something that came naturally to me. It’s a skill I had to develop through experience, trial, and error. Today, I listen to my instincts and say “no” more often than I used to—and it’s made all the difference in the quality of my work, relationships, and results.
