Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Albright.
Hi Mike, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a singer, guitarist and keyboard player for 50 years. I’ve traveled all over the country playing music mainly in the Tampa Bay Area and the front range of Colorado. I was the lead vocalist and rythm guitar and keyboard player for The Impacs, a popular central Florida band for 25 years on and off. I’ve also done a lot of solo work. I currently play in the Tampa Bay Area. I have worked over the years with, Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Canned Heat, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ben E. King, Lobo, Ray Stevens and many others.
I currently have several projects I’m working with. The Silver Alert Band, The Michael Turk Band and The Michael Turk Duo, plus limited solo work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The typical stuff. Working with some of the people in the business can be challenging. My days on the road dealing with agents, promoters, club owners etc. I’ve been blessed with a good career and I’m still going strong at a pretty high level.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m experienced in dealing with many genres of music, I love interacting with my audience joking around between songs. I usually can read the crowd and deliver a performance that is entertaining whether it be dancing or just listening me sing and play. I have a lot of stories from the road and my career over the years.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I’m originally from the Detroit area, a town called Monroe Michigan. My parents moved us to St. Petersburg, Florida when I was 11. Then in the 70s I moved my Family to Colorado and I’ve been back and forth from Florida to Colorado ever since.
