Inspiring Conversations with Alison D’Elia of Fork-n-Flair Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison D’Elia.

Hi Alison, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a love for food, hospitality, and creating memorable experiences. What started as cooking for family gatherings and small events gradually grew into something much bigger. Friends and relatives began recommending me, and before long I found myself catering birthdays, holidays, and corporate events.

As demand grew, I realized this wasn’t just a hobby—it was my passion and my purpose. I began investing in my skills, expanding my menu, building client relationships, and creating a catering service centered on quality, creativity, and exceptional customer care.

Today, I’m proud to serve a growing list of amazing clients and be part of their special moments. Every event is a new opportunity to create something delicious, help people celebrate, and continue doing the work I truly love.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve faced my share of challenges. In the beginning, I had to learn how to balance everything—from managing bookings and pricing to sourcing ingredients and keeping up with the fast pace of events. There were definitely moments when I questioned whether I could juggle it all.

Another challenge was growth. As word spread and demand increased, I had to quickly adapt, streamline my processes, and build systems that allowed me to maintain quality while serving more clients. It took time, trial and error, and plenty of long nights.

But each challenge taught me something valuable. Those experiences pushed me to become more organized, more confident, and more intentional about how I run my business. Looking back, the struggles were really steppingstones that helped me grow into the business I have today.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in creating themed culinary experiences that transform any occasion into something truly memorable. What sets us apart is the level of intention and creativity we put into every detail—from the menu to the presentation and overall atmosphere. Everything is thoughtfully designed to reflect your vision, your theme, and your personal style.

Whether it’s a cozy dinner, a milestone celebration, corporate event, or something completely unique, we pride ourselves on crafting experiences that not only satisfy your taste buds but also make you feel taken care of. Our goal is to bring comfort, connection, and joy through food and hospitality.

What we’re most proud of as a brand is our ability to listen—really listen—to our clients’ needs. We don’t offer cookie-cutter packages; we create menus and event experiences that feel personal, meaningful, and tailored. Clients know us for our creativity, reliability, warm service, and food that makes people say, ‘Wow.’

What I want readers to know is that we’re more than just catering—we’re here to help you create an unforgettable moment. From custom menus to beautifully curated stations, passed appetizers, themed setups, and full event support, we’re committed to making your vision come to life in the most delicious way possible.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that might surprise people is that I never planned to be in the food industry at all. Cooking started as something I did out of love—something that brought me joy—not something I expected to grow into a full business.

Another surprising thing is how much of a perfectionist I am behind the scenes. I spend a lot of time testing recipes, adjusting flavors, and experimenting with new ideas long before they make it onto a menu. I’m constantly refining and pushing myself creatively.

People are also often surprised by how hands-on I am. Even as the business grows, I’m involved in everything from menu design to event setup because I genuinely enjoy the creative and personal side of catering. Many assume there’s a large team behind the brand, but the heart, vision, and details still come directly from me—and that’s something I’m really proud of.
